E-ssentials also provides resources and job aids to assist research administrators with the successful management of a sponsored project.
Costs of All Kinds
Time required: Approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.
The Costs of All Kinds module provides a general overview of the types of Direct Costs and Indirect Costs most often associated with a sponsored project, including salaries, effort, supplies, equipment, and travel. Information related to budgeting for GSRA salaries and calculating Modified Total Direct Costs is also provided.
Cost Share
Time required: Approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.
The Cost Share module provides an overview of the different types of cost sharing that might be included in a sponsored project or proposal. For each type of cost-sharing commitment, guidance is also provided regarding whether or not the contribution should be referenced and/or quantified in the proposal, and whether the contribution should be included in award documents and financial reports to the sponsor. Cost-sharing factors related to the type of sponsor (federal, industry, etc.) are also addressed.
