Happy new year and welcome back!

ORSP has utilized the eResearch Proposal Management (eRPM) Deliverables functionality (an electronic tickler system) on certain federally funded awards
* to remind Project Teams of the due date(s) for the following sponsor-required deliverables:
  • Final Progress/Technical Report (due on or after project end date)
  • Final Hardware/Software (due on or after project end date)

Why is this important?

This enhancement serves to promote institutional compliance with the terms and conditions of federal award agreements, which is critical in mitigating institutional risk and the potential loss of federal funding.

Delinquent deliverables to federal sponsors put all University of Michigan investigators and projects at risk, and not just those individuals who miss the deadlines.

How will this work?

The Principal Investigator or Post-Award Contacts on a federal project will receive system-generated email reminders about their deliverables entered in eRPM.**  These reminders should prompt the recipients to:
  • Prepare the deliverable according to the terms and conditions of the award agreement
  • Submit the deliverable to the sponsor or to ORSP (only if the sponsor requires ORSP to submit the deliverable)
  • NEW! Log the submission of the deliverable (whether to the sponsor or ORSP as required) in eRPM by running the Project Team Manage Deliverables activity and performing the “Complete” action.

System-generated reminders

Until the submission of the deliverable is logged (i.e., the Complete action is performed), system-generated emails will be sent at 60, 30, and 5 days prior to the deliverable due date, and at 7, 14, 21, and 28 days after the deliverable due date.  If the submission is not logged in eRPM by 28 days after the deliverable due date, the overdue deliverable will be included in a report available to the unit’s dean-level research administrator.  All deliverables entered in eRPM must be logged as complete in order to close the Award record.

Additional details on Deliverables functionality

The eRPM Deliverables functionality is available for use by the Project Teams and other Central Offices to enter other non-financial deliverables and their due dates.  Note: Project Teams may only select themselves as the responsible party.

*Excludes VA Interagency Personnel Agreements and federal agreements that do not require a final deliverable.
**eRPM-generated emails for deliverables are sent to all Principal Investigators, U-M Sponsor Principal Investigator (if applicable), Primary Post-Award Contact, Additional Post-Award Contact, and anyone else selected as an email recipient.
