The NIH has introduced new/revised forms and instructions labelled FORMS-D. Applicants must use FORMS-D for due dates on or after May 25, 2016, and must use FORMS-C for due dates on or before May 24, 2016. The eResearch Proposal Management (eRPM) System will be updated to support this.
Which Form to Use When
Due Dates on or before May 24, 2016 --> Use FORMS-C
Due Dates on or after May 25, 2016 --> Use FORMS-D
eRPM Will be Updated in Two Phases to Support FORMS-D
April 4, 2016 (SF424 3.0) - On April 4, 2016 - FORMS-D will be available for download in eRPM. This update will not include all of the validations necessary to complete the submission, but will allow you to begin entering information and future updates will not require re-entry.
May 2, 2016 (SF424 3.0.1) - FORMS-D NIH Validations will be available in eRPM. This update will also include support for one remaining form, PHS Fellowship Supplemental Form V3.0.
How to Best Be Ready
Please be aware that NIH will be transitioning to the new FORMS-D over an extended period with a commitment to post updated FOAs 60 days before the first due date on/after May 25.
We ask you to wait until the opportunity is updated with the required FORMS-D before you download the package in eRPM. This will ensure you have the correct form set for your application.
Example from NIH
For an R21 with standard due dates, the first FORMS-D due date is June 16, and the FORMS-D package will be available around April 16.
