Apply for Navigate: Advanced Budgeting -Internal Proposals Deadline: Monday, July 19, 2018
with approximately two (2) or more years of on-the-job experience;
who have been exposed to and regularly produce basic budgets for sponsored research proposals;
are familiar with various appointment types used in sponsored project budgets, including faculty (U-year and 12-month), staff, and graduate students; and
are familiar with how to calculate common budget elements, including indirect costs and modified total direct costs (MTDC).
By the end of this course, participants will build a complex internal budget with cost share and keep the step-by-step documentation and Excel templates for use in developing similar budgets in their own positions. Budget attributes covered in this course include:
projects without a solicitation or guidelines;
complex internally funded projects; and
internal cost share with PIs from multiple departments.
Attendance at both sessions is mandatory. Completion of the course requires class attendance, completion of homework, and a review session.

with approximately two (2) or more years of on-the-job experience;
who have been exposed to and regularly produce basic budgets for sponsored research proposals;
are familiar with various appointment types included in sponsored project budgets, including faculty (U-year and 12-month), staff, and graduate students; and
are familiar with how to calculate common budget elements including indirect costs and modified total direct costs (MTDC).
From class demonstrations and modeling, participants will then apply budget techniques to build their own budgets (including justifications), with more complex elements and attributes. Budgets will represent a variety of budget types and sponsors. The learner will participate in class walk-through demonstrations, discussion of budget-building and problem-solving strategies typical in the context of proposal submission, and then work through reinforcing budget development homework assignments.
Attendance at both sessions is mandatory. Completion of the course requires class attendance, completion of homework, and a review session.

The Navigate: Uniform Guidance Cost Principles course is recommended for new or seasoned research administrators involved in either the pre- or post-award management of federally sponsored research projects. This course will focus directly on the Uniform Guidance cost principles.
This course is designed to help you plan and manage your Federally sponsored projects for Uniform Guidance cost accounting principles. During the course, participants will learn about the importance of being compliant with the Uniform Guidance, how to plan for Uniform Guidance expenses, and how to manage projects with Uniform Guidance expenses throughout their lifecycle.
This course will be one (1) day long. To receive certification, participants will have to complete the full session, along with any in-class and pre-class assignments.
