Father in heaven, who at the baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan proclaimed him your beloved Son and anointed him with the Holy Spirit: Grant that all who are baptized into his Name may keep the covenant they have made, and boldly confess him as Lord and Savior; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.
All decked out for Christmas!
On behalf of all the parish, thank you to Ardis Weir, her family, and our awesome Altar Guild for decking out the Chapel and Sanctuary in a most beautiful manner.

Special thanks from our family to All Saints for your prayers and visits to my husband, Tom. This is the update for Day 26! He's likely to be going home around January 9th, where he will complete his recovery with home nursing care and therapies. He is hoping to return to work in early February.
Thanks be to God!

Mother Laura
Dear All,
Thank you very much for giving us an opportunity to have a great holiday party for kids and their mothers in the Parish Hall of the church on December 14th! Thanks to you, 40+ kids had a wonderful celebration of the holiday season, with very special appearance from Ded Moroz, the Russian version of Santa, and his granddaughter, Snow Maid. Lots of singing, reciting poems, games and presents made this event really memorable for many people.

Thank you very much for everything you do for the community!
Tamara (Russian Oregon Social Services)

AFFLUENZA (not Influenza)

3-week video series starts this Sunday

Alert!
An outbreak of Affluenza has been reported in your area.

Symptoms:
Swollen Expectations, Hypercommercialism, Shopping Fever, a Rash of Bankruptcies, Fractured Families, Chronic Stress, Social Scars and Resource Exhaustion.

Treatment:
Four out of five doctors recommend seeing the PBS production AFFLUENZA for instant relief. Join us for this informative video during Adult Forum, starting this Sunday, January 7, at 9:30 a.m.

Affluenza is a fascinating look at one of the greatest social maladies of our tiome: overconsumption and materialism. Hosted by National Public Radio's Scott Simon, the program explores both the comical and sobering aspects of our consumerism and its enormous impact on families, communities, and the environment.
Parish Profile Update

Bishop Michael Hanley has approved our 2018 All Saints Parish Profile!

Special thanks to all who contributed to this process and especially for the leadership of Mary Earl, Laura Axon, Laurie McDowell, Chris McClave, Ardis Weir, Sonja Miller, Ruth Mumm and Jerry Meter.
All Parish Annual Meeting
Sunday, January 21, 2018

Following the 10:15 a.m. Service there will be a parish potluck in Watson Hall followed by our annual meeting in which we elect new members of the vestry, review our budget, and share important reports highlighting 2017.
A Prayer for Special Guidance
Almighty Lord, source of all knowledge and loving kindness, bring your grace upon the  All Saint’s Search Committee as we discern the needs of our parish in finding a new priest to serve as our Spiritual guide. Give us ears to hear, open hearts to feel, and clarity of vision so we might see your light. Shine your light upon us and grant us courage to move forward for your Honor and Glory. Let us all work together in your spirit of love for all who make up our All Saints’ community. We ask this For His Sake, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen

Girardian Glossary of Terms (as defined by Abbot Andrew Marr, OSB in "Moving and Resting in God's Desire: a Theology of Peace")

  • Agape:  Love that is totally altruistic, offered with no strings attached, with total regard for the well-being of all people who receive it. Most commonly attributed to God. Humans may participate in agape as a gift of grace

  • Grace:  The usual English translation of charis, meaning gift. It refers to all gifts God gives to us, most particularly the gift of God's presence within us. Other gifts include strengthening us to love beyond our human capacity and endure trials when they come.

  • Climate of Health: Promotion of and sustaining health at a societal level, where people care for one another.
