This week's New Vestry Member profile: Ena Weick

When did you come to All Saints, and what is your favorite thing about our church?
While planning my wedding back in 2000, my husband and I were invited to attend All Saints by my husband’s Aunt Jeani and Uncle Rod (who are current members).  After seeing the church for the first time, we knew we had to be married at All Saints!  We were married in June of 2001.  There was unfortunately a long hiatus where life got in the way after our wedding but I found my way back after my husband passed in September 2015.  Mother Laura invited me back to church and Deacon Kathleen set me to work right away so I’m here to stay now!

My fav thing about the church - is even though the parish is small (right now) the love and pride everyone takes in being part of All Saints is infectious!

Tell us about your family.
I have a very small but close family.  My mom and dad being very active in a Korean Presbyterian church in Hillsboro and one sister that lives up in Washington.  I have 2 nieces and 1 nephew that you will see me dragging to church to help out with Hot Meals every so often.

Tell us something about your background, job or education.
I currently work as a Global Project Manager for BCD Travel, which is one of the biggest corporate travel agencies in the world.  I get to work from home and have an insanely complicated and weird work schedule but for me it’s perfect!  So for me... resolving problems, finding and directing resources to keep on tasks and working within set timelines are my strongest traits.

And…. I’ll always be a Univ. of Portland Pilot!

What ministries have you been involved with at All Saints?
Hot Meals –I LOVE TO COOK!, Dental Van and I’ve been known to go rogue and just make up my own “mini-stries” to make people smile.   J  ie. Quilts and more quilts!

What are your hopes and goals for the vestry team?
To assist with getting a lean, focused and effective team that will systematically get things rolling for all the church priorities and programs.
Tuesday Morning
Woman's Bible Study

The Women's Bible Study is searching for a new facilitator. Pat Ten Broeke has been a wonderful leader for ten years and will retire at the end of 2017.

If you are interested in considering the leadership of the Tuesday Morning Bible Study, please speak with Mother Laura about it. We thank Mary Earl for facilitating it at this time.

Dear Mother Laura and all,

Thank you so much for the generous Valentine's Day gift. The best gifts are always those that are completely unexpected! Working at All Saints in itself is a gift that I very much enjoy ... everyone is so kind and helpful.

My husband and I are looking forward to some wonderful food and ambiance at Bergerac Bistro.

Thank you all!

With love,

Cris.
Crab Feast Final Report:
160 tickets sold, 3 no shows so 157 people served. Profit $3800 corrected amount due to Sonja shouldn't do math at 11 p.m. after the crab feast.  It is still our highest profit yet!  $480 in products were donated by the committee. Thank you everyone!

Banking Options Being Explored:
There have been questions following the annual meeting about banking and whether we stay with Wells Fargo or move to another bank due to the concerns around the banks support of DAPL.  As was stated at the annual meeting, the Finance Committee will review our banking options for All Saints and then make a recommendation to the vestry.  Craig Heverly has volunteered to do the primary research about banks, fees, and some specific services we would like to implement to make it easier for folks to make bank transfers to pay pledges or to pay with a card or on line for events such as the crab feed.  The information will be presented to the Finance Committee.  The committee will review the information and then make a recommendation to the vestry.  This will likely take 2-3 months before there is a final decision.  We appreciate the interest and passion of our members and want to make a studied and wise decision on behalf of the parish.

Thank you,
Sonja G Miller
Chair of the Finance Committee
