Geoff Sasser (small)
Hello All Youth of All Saints Episcopal Church & St. John the Evangelist!
My name is Geoff Sasser, and I am delighted to be leading both the Middle School and High School groups for this year. Some of you may have already met me in person at the Family Picnic last Sunday, and for some of you I may be a complete stranger. This Sunday will be our first session together, and it will be awesome! We will be introducing ourselves to the group, and I will lay out some of the ground rules, but we will not be doing this idly sitting around! This Sunday, we will be creating masterful pizza creations in the kitchen, and showing off our culinary skills to our friends!
What mysteries lie in store for the year?
   What sauce will you use?
   What toppings will you choose?
Will we learn how to spin pizza dough? (Maybe)
Will dough get stuck to the ceiling? (Probably)

Ice Cream Social

Hot Meals
HUNGER DIDN'T TAKE A SUMMER VACATION. Contributions to Hot Meals have been down this summer, but attendance at every meal has remained high, usually over 90 guests. Please consider a generous donation to this ministry. The first and third Sundays are set aside for this special offering, but you may give it on any Sunday  if you designate it as such. Many thanks! - Deacon Kathleen
Power outage does not stop our ministry at All Saints!
With the lack of electricity last Saturday, Hot Meals was still able to serve hot and ready meal to 110 guests. The Mustard Seed was still open for business in the pitch darkness, the only light was by flashlights. The Mustard Seed made $75.

Has anyone found a metal vase? We are missing it since our wedding on July 17th. It is about 6-7 inches tall, about 2-inches in diameter, bud-vase shape with a base, looks like brass, with dark and light bands around it.

Parish Directory Photo Shoot Opportunity!
After the 8:00 service and the 10:15 service, Jerry Meter will have his camera ready by the side of our Pipe Organ to take photos for those parishioners who missed the first time we took pictures for our directory and for new families and parishioners who have joined our congregation since the directory photos were taken.  Check in with Jerry after the services if you need to have your picture taken.

Flower Fund
You may honor or commemorate the death of a loved one on the week of their passing by making a contribution to the Flower Fund for the closest Sunday. This contribution could be made annually. Special thanks to those who beautify our chapel and sanctuary with their ministry of flower arranging:  Joan Barnes, Nancy Carr, and Francine Titherington.
Memorial Fund

Our parish has a Memorial Fund which, combined with our Columbarium Fund, are used for improvements and beautification of the Chapel and Nave.  Memorial contributions can be sent to the Memorial Fund of All Saints Episcopal Church.  These are recorded in our Memorial Book for posterity by Susanne Bateman.  We appreciate the memorial gifts recently received in honor of Carolyn Kristy and Mary Williams.

Presiding Bishop-elect, Michael Curry

On Growing Churches:
"The gospel hasn't changed. Jesus is still the same. We need to learn and discover new ways of carrying out and sharing that good news of Jesus. In this day, in this time, the church can no longer wait for its congregation to come to it. That change of directionality on the part of the Church, church-wide, will have impact for reaching people who are not automatically coming to our doors."
Walking Tour

of Portland and Episcopal Church History
On Saturday October 17th there will be a leisurely walking tour in downtown Portland led by Katie Keller.  We will meet at Trinity Cathedral in the East parking lot at 10 a.m ,  ride the MAX line to Old Town and walk and talk our way through history. It will last about 1.5 hours and we will return to Trinity and possibly go inside for a few minutes.
The tour will be limited to 20 participants.  If it fills and there is still interest, we will plan another one!  There is no charge but you will need to buy a MAX ticket for $2.50/ adults.
If you are interested, please add your name to the sign-up sheet located on the desk top in the front of the parish hall.
