THIS Saturday, October 27, 2018

It's time for our semi-annual Fall Clean-up again!  We need to get the grounds ready for winter, and this year especially, ready for our new Rector to see our beautiful church.  Any and all help is appreciated - we need ladder holders as well as ladder climbers, rakers and planters, trimmers and sweepers!

We'll meet at 10:00 am on Saturday and work until twelve or there about.  We'll have sandwiches and drinks at noon, along with fellowship after a good day's work!  If you want to come earlier than 10:00, or leave earlier than 12:00, please do.  We'll be looking for you!   Please bring tools - especially hedge clippers, broom, shovels - if you have them.

Questions?  Call or text or email Judy Clark.    THANK YOU!

Also, when you see Greg,  please give him a huge
THANK YOU!

for pressure washing all of our sidewalks.

No more moss, no more decades of dirt and grime all thanks to Greg and his pressure washer!
Our Last Day with Father Bob

This Sunday, October 28, All Saints parish will have the chance to say good bye to our interim rector, Father Bob Williams.  Although we are joyfully looking forward to our new beginning with Mother Andria, we are sad to see him leave our church family.  We have been honored to have Father Bob shepherd us through these past eight months.  Amazing sermons, compassionate pastoral care, and wise guidance are among the memories he leaves with us as he continues his journey to other parishes.  We wish him well.
Please join us, won’t you, for our last Sunday with Father Bob.  All are invited to the reception in his honor after the 10:15 service.  Hope to see you there!

~ Laurie McDowell, Senior Warden

Everyone is invited, and costumes are welcome - see you there!

If you're looking for a fun night out or a great way to meet new people and get connected at All Saints Episcopal Church, we invite you to join a Supper Club. Supper Clubs are monthly gatherings where people, married or single, with or without the kids, can gather for fun, food and fellowship. If you are new to our community or if you've been around for years, there’s a Supper Club just for you.

Sign ups will be in the parish hall after each service.  If you prefer, you can email Laurie McDowell

Please sign up by November 11 so we can put groups together.  There will be a kick-off potluck at the church on Friday, November 16, at 6:00 pm.

All Saints Supper Club Kick Off
Can you make it?  Friday, November 16, 6 pm, at the church, Supper Club will hold its “beginning of the season” potluck supper.  Groups will be announced and logistics will be discussed.  If you have signed up already, please come if you can.  If you haven’t signed up and are interested, this is a great opportunity to meet and make friends by joining a group.
Groups usually meet every month, but each group can determine how often to meet.  Some groups prefer to meet at a host’s home while others prefer meeting at a local restaurant or choose to have a potluck at the church.
Questions? Call or email Laurie McDowell.

Supper Club
Purpose:  Supper Clubs are a great way to enjoy Christian fellowship and hospitality outside of church services on Sunday mornings.  Dinners are held in a casual, but lively setting of six to ten people in a variety of settings—someone’s home, at the church, at a restaurant, in a park—many options!
Training:  None needed
Commitment:  Groups generally meet at least four or five times from October to May.  Some groups choose to meet through the summer, as well.  The host provides the main meal and the guests fill in the rest.

All Saints
Music Ministry:

Music is a joyous way for people to offer praise to God and to remember the truth that they have just sung. At All Saints’, music is valued as intrinsic to our parish life. We are blessed to be able to give back a portion of that gift through our several ministries. Here’s a few ways to revel in the gift of music and share your time and talent in the parish family:
Chancel Choir – rehearses Thursdays, 7:30–9:00pm and sings the 10:15am service most Sundays. We are always able to welcome new talent to this vital (and fun!) ensemble. Jim Denman directs.

Family Choir – rehearses Sundays following the main service and sings the 10:15am service on the 4th Sunday of each month. Parents and children can join together in song and celebration! A loving and learning experience for all. Belinda Nissen directs.

Fourth Sunday Ensemble – come all guitarists, string, wind, and brass players to our instrumental ensemble that joins the family choir on the 4th Sunday of each month. Warmup read-through rehearsals precede the service.

Join the growing musical life of All Saints! Please talk with Jim or Belinda following today’s service, or give a call to the Parish Office and leave your name and number.

Dear All Saints Parishioners,

I can’t tell you how excited I am to be your new rector! I sense that God is about to do some great things at All Saints and in its wider community, and I am thrilled to be part of it. There’s no doubt in my mind that we are going to have a lot of fun growing together.

To give you some background about me, I received my Masters of Divinity from the University of Chicago Divinity School, with training in Anglican Studies from Seabury Western. I have a B.A. in Communication Arts from Warner Pacific College (now University), in Portland, and a post-baccalaureate degree in Philosophy from the University of Oregon. (Go Ducks!)

For the past four and a half years, I have been the rector of a growing, urban parish in Rockford, IL, part of the diocese of Chicago. My work in Rockford has given me the opportunity to share leadership in several significant outreach ministries, including a drop-in center for people who suffer from chronic mental illness and an arts outreach initiative. It is also a church with strong music and children and family ministry programs, which wonderfully accords with the strengths and goals of All Saints.

My family consists of my husband, Jordan, whom I met at Warner, and our 2 year old son, Jacoby (Coby for short). My husband recently received his Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible, also from the University of Chicago, and our son has the curiosity, energy and opinionatedness that you’d expect from someone his age. At this moment in time, he loves soccer and baseball, buses, trains and airplanes, and monsters. As a family, we enjoy camping, biking, swimming, paddle-boarding, playing music, and hanging out in interesting neighborhoods. We also eat a vegan diet, which should explain our frequent, future visits to the Laughing Planet across the street from the church. If you’re hosting a meal or event with food, please know I’m always happy to bring something vegan or provide ideas.

Another thing Jordan, Coby and I are looking forward to about this move is being closer to family. My parents and brother's family live in Portland on the Southeast side, and Jordan’s family lives in Chico, CA. The position at All Saints helps us fulfill a long desire to move back to the Pacific Northwest, which we consider to be home. Also catching a few more Timbers games won't hurt!

I'm really looking forward to getting to know each and every one of you. The time I spent with your Vestry and Search Committee was very meaningful, and I am grateful for their thoughtfulness, prayerfulness and devotion to and throughout this process.

When I arrive, please don’t hesitate to reach out to grab a cup of coffee or share a meal, and let me know if there’s anyone you’d like me to reach out to. I will be praying for you in the time leading up to my arrival. November 3rd will be here before we know it!

Sincerely,

The Rev. Andria Skornik

If you lost or didn't receive your Stewardship Letter and Pledge Card in the mail, additional copies are available in the Narthex.
