Father in heaven, who at the baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan proclaimed him your beloved Son and anointed him with the Holy Spirit: Grant that all who are baptized into his Name may keep the covenant they have made, and boldly confess him as Lord and Savior; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

Opportunity for Holy Baptism

The first Sunday after the Epiphany, January 8,  is the Baptism of our Lord and is one of the special designated times for the sacrament of Baptism. Holy Baptism is scheduled to take place on Easter Day, April 16. The Day of Pentecost, Sunday June 4, is another recommended time for Baptism.  If you would like to learn more, please speak with Mother Laura.

Confirmation Classes for Youth and Adults on Sundays,
January 15, 22 & 29 at 9:15 a.m.
Sign up this Sunday!

Confirmation classes will be offered for those interested in exploring the possibility of being confirmed or received. They will take place on three Sundays in January from 9:15-10:00 in the Guild Room.  These classes are for any youth or adult in our parish who is ready to consider
and explore making a "mature commitment" of faith.

"Confirmation is appropriate for those of any age who are making a mature commitment for the first time," as the Bishop's Customary says.

The Bishop's Visitation is the special opportunity for confirmation, reception, and reaffirmation of one's faith with the laying on of hands.
Bishop's Visitation

Our Bishop, The Rt. Rev. Michael J. Hanley, will be coming to All Saints for his annual visit on Sunday, February 19, 2017. The Bishop's Visitation is an opportunity for Baptism, Confirmation, Reception and Reaffirmation.  We hope to have our new altar dedicated by Bishop Michael, as well as to have him bless our new Meditation Garden during his time with us.
Crackin' Crab Feast
     at All Saints Episcopal Church

     On Saturday, Feb. 4th.
Two seatings are available: 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the church hall on 4033 SE Woodstock Blvd., Portland.

The annual event has been a huge hit for those who love crab and like to have a good time with family and friends. A bargain at $37.50, the meal comes with fresh crab, salad and bread. A cash bar is available as well, and children 6 and under eat free with a mac & cheese option. All proceeds support All Saints outreach ministries.

For tickets or more info, go to or call Nancy at 916-202-7132.

Basket-weaving with
Susan Hanks:

Basket class will start a new project on January 11 at 10:00 a.m.  No experience necessary. Our project will be a covered cork to protect the sharp ends in your tool bag. Materials fee is $10.00.

Also, Susan Hanks will not be at the January 18 meeting as she will be at the NW Basket-weavers retreat. Members may still gather to support one another in the project. Susan will return for the meeting on January 25.
Prayer Shawl Ministry:

There will be a meeting of the Prayer Shawl Ministry on January 15 after the 10:15 service.  We have a new large donation of yarn thanks again to our anonymous donor. Please come and choose yarn for a new shawl to start the new year!

Congratulations to Earl and Donna Woodruff on the birth
of their new grandson, Bentley Thomas.
Thank you to all who have generously made a commitment
to support our church!

2017 Pledge Drive Update:  82 cards have been received totaling $138,025. We still need to make every effort to meet the Vestry's adjusted 2017 Annual Pledge Goal of $145,000. If you haven't already, please submit your pledge today!

Every gift counts toward reaching our goal!

Needed: more Eucharistic ministers who are not members of the choir. After the departure of some of key servers, most of our remaining Eucharistic ministers, the good people who carry the chalices during communion, are members of the choir.  Since communion takes place during the singing of the anthem, this imbalance is a burden on the choir, especially during special feast days and other celebrations.   If you are interested in serving, please contact David Champion at 971-284-4175 or
