2014-2015 Sunday School
End of Year News

We have had a great year in Sunday school this year. We have heard many Godly Play Stories including some new synthesis lessons and The Crosses lesson after which we made the magic oragmi crosses pictured below.  St Nicholas visited us. We performed the Caterpillar Play on Ascension Sunday. Some of us created our Advent Felt Project of the Holy Family and many of us are still working on our Easter Butterfly Sewing Project.

Vacation Bible School is our next big event and I am very excited about it!!! Exploring the themes of anti-bullying and the labyrinth. I will have some craft project preparations ready for help next week.

Over the summer we can continue our work on our butterflies, Chuck Bateman would like to share some Native American Stories with us and perhaps his hand made instruments also. I am hoping we can make cookies to sell at the Eastmoreland Garage Sale. Maybe we could use the monies for more Godly Play Lessons or materials.  ~Laura Axon

Ad Hoc Committee on Homeless
Our parish has had its’ share of interactions with homeless people on church property. The City of Portland has recommended that we establish a firm policy, both pro-active and re-active to handle this issue.

Thank you to those who volunteered to serve on this committee to draft such a policy: Amelia Brooks, Judy Clarke, and our two Wardens. If you are interested in participating, please contact Chuck Martin, Senior Warden.

Wednesday, June 24, Episcopal Church Women (ECW) will meet in the Parish Hall. We invite you to participate in a potluck, so bring your favorite dish to share. If you are unable to bring a dish or something else of your choice, please join us in good cheer and conversation. Potluck starts at 6:00 p.m., and meeting starts at 7:00 p.m.

The St. Clare Order of the Daughters of the King® is going to be on summer hiatus all of July and August. We will begin meeting again on Thursday, September 3, 2015, in the Guild Room at 11:00 a.m. However, the Prayer Request list will still be prepared weekly during our summer break. If someone you love or know is in need of prayers, please pick up a blue Prayer Request card and fill it out and put it in the Prayer Box in the Narthex.

We do not take a vacation from praying ever.
ECO-FAITH NOTES

For the last four weeks in the Notes , Steve Hiscoe has been offering thoughts on electric vehicles . As you might have guessed Steve and Sue own an electric car and have agreed to answer questions you might have about these amazing machines. How far can you go on a charge? How long does it take to charge? What do they cost? How big is the trunk? Can I sit in yours? Any and all questions welcome. Next time you see them feel free to pick their brains and experience.

Featured FAQs; frequently asked questions about Episcopal Church teachings, terminology, and traditions.

Ordinary Time:  Term used to designate the parts of the liturgical year that are not included in the major seasons, namely, the Sundays after the Epiphany and the Sundays after Pentecost.  While it does not appear in the Book of Common Prayer, Episcopalians sometimes use this term informally to refer to those seasons in which green is the appropriate liturgical color.
