New Administrative Assistant Has Arrived!

I am happy to announce that Ms. Irene Weldon, mezzo-soprano soloist with the Bach Cantata Choir, piano teacher, and voice teacher at Warner Pacific College, has been selected as our new Administrative Assistant. Portland-born, Irene has two lovely daughters, Alicia & Rachel, and a grandson, Lucien.  She earned her M.S.T. from PSU, served in the office at St. Michael and All Angels, sang in the Trinity Choir and has also worked as a library clerk.  Irene begins work this week in our church office and has already met our staff.
We are delighted to welcome her, and feel very fortunate to have her serve among us. Special thanks to our excellent interviewing team:  Jim Denman, Kathy Martin, Jen Schafer, Sue Hiscoe, and Jerry Meter.

Mother Laura

Office hours are:

Deacon Kathleen
Each Sunday morning during the summer, Deacon Kathleen must leave promptly at 12:30 after the 10:15 service for her internship commitment at the Lents International Farmers Market at 92nd and Foster. She invites you to visit this small but unique farmers market on your way home after church, open Sundays 10 to 3. It is sponsored by Zenger Farm, a working urban farm located at 11741 SE Foster Road, that models, promotes and educates about sustainable food systems, environmental stewardship, community development and access to good food for all.
The special offering basket will be available during the offertory this Sunday for monetary donations to William Temple House. Although you can place food, hygiene articles, and clothing in the donation barrel in the narthex at any time, why not make it a tradition to bring these items every 4th Sunday, when filled baskets are blessed at the altar during the Eucharist? William Temple House operates a food pantry, children’s clothing closet, pastoral services, and low-cost counseling services. The staff is very grateful for the contributions from All Saints!

Summer is coming.
Please remember to keep your pledges current.
Bills don't take a vacation!
Ad Hoc Committee on Homeless
Our parish has had its’ share of interactions with homeless people on church property. The City of Portland has recommended that we establish a firm policy, both pro-active and re-active to handle this issue.

Thank you to those who volunteered to serve on this committee to draft such a policy: Amelia Brooks, Judy Clarke, Jocelyn Cox, Deacon Kathleen and our two Wardens.
ECUSA General Convention

The General Convention of the Episcopal Church will take place in Salt Lake City, Utah from Thursday, June 25th through Friday, July 7th.

Beginning on June 22 and running through the day of adjournment, July 3, this Facebook group will be praying for all members of the House of Bishops, House of Deputies, staff, volunteers, consultants, and visitors who will be involved in the hard work of the Episcopal Church in convention.

This is a group where all are welcome–it has no political agenda and political statements aren’t encouraged.  The group is a neutral space for praying in the tradition of the via media, calling upon the Holy Spirit to lead our prayers and our Church into God’s best hopes for us.

Each day there will be two postings–morning and evening–of prayers for guidance, protection, mercy, thanksgiving, or peace that may be prayed for convention.

Here is the link:

Featured FAQs; frequently asked questions about Episcopal Church teachings, terminology, and traditions.

General Convention:  The agenda of General Convention includes program, policy, and decisions about The Book of Common Prayer; as well as deliberations about church policy on questions of theology and ethics.  While most issues can be dealt with at a single convention, essential questions such as revisions of the prayer book and hymnal, or changes in the constitution, require the vote of two consecutive conventions.
