Jesus speaking to his disciples at the Last Supper. John 13:31-35
O Almighty God, whom truly to know is everlasting life:
Grant us so perfectly to know thy Son Jesus Christ
to be the way, the truth, and the life,
that we may steadfastly follow
his steps in the way that leadeth to eternal life;
through the same thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord,
who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Rev. Liz Powers, a member of our parish, will preside and preach at both the 8:00 a.m. and 10:15 services on Youth Sunday, April 24. Liz is canonically resident in the Diocese of South Dakota, but also licensed now in our diocese. She and Sam Robertson have been married 20 years.

Sam, who works at the Native American Rehabilitation Center as an addiction counselor in downtown Portland, chaired the South Dakota Diocesan Anti-Racism Committee. Sam's brother, the late Rt. Rev. Creighton Robertson, was the first Episcopal Native American bishop.

Rev. Liz is a 2004 graduate of Sewanee University of the South. Prior to her ordination as priest in North Dakota that same year, she spent many years in the social work field. Though Liz is retired, she will be working as a "Visiting Angel" to home-bound people in the Portland area. We are grateful Liz and Sam are members of All Saints.

Mother Laura is on vacation through Tuesday, April 26, returning to the office on Wednesday.
Learning about becoming a Believe Out Loud Congregation. Many un-churched LGBT people in our community are spiritually searching. They are looking for a faith community where they will be welcomed and affirmed as beloved children of God. This Sunday, following both the 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. services, Charlene McCreight will make a presentation on how All Saints can become a Believe Out Loud Congregation. Charlene is our Diocesan workshop leader for Believe Out Loud Congregations.

Come Celebrate Fourth Sundays!!
And maybe join the band?

All Saints’ is blessed with talented, committed volunteers who gather to make music every Sunday and at mid-week or Sunday rehearsals. On the fourth Sunday of every month—Youth Sunday—parents and children sing together at the 10:15 service in the Family Choir, under the leadership of Belinda Nissen, with accompanist Jerry Meter.
As a bonus, the service includes accompaniment and musical offerings by the Fourth Sunday Ensemble, volunteer instrumentalists who play woodwinds, brass, strings, and guitar. Come enjoy and sing with us and raise a joyful shout in harmony with the Family Choir and Instrumental Ensemble!!

Do you or members of your family sing? Why not add your voices? For more information about Family Choir, please contact Belinda Nissen through the parish office.

Do you play an instrument? Would you like to share your talent with other volunteers to enrich our worship at these special services? Please contact Jim Denman through the parish office, or at the parish music address: allsaintspdxmusic@gmail.com.

Thanks for reading—we hope to hear from you!

We had a wonderful turnout for the Spring Clean-up.  There were at least 15 people there.  Some were children and youngsters, and all ages.  They all really worked hard and made a huge difference.  I think the grounds look very pretty and welcoming now.  As an added benefit, we had the very hard work of a man who showed up around nine to wait for the hot meal, and spent the next 2 hours working up a sweat!  Another woman showed up later and helped sweep very efficiently.   I think there may be some of the hot meals guests who would enjoy helping.  It's another way to connect.

Prayer for the Earth
I have come to terms with the future.
From this day onward I will walk easy on the earth.
Plant trees. Kill no living things.
Live in harmony with all creatures.
I will restore the earth where I am.
Use no more of its resources than I need.
And listen, listen to what it is telling me.
