July 05, 2015: Sixth Sunday after Pentecost,
Proper 9, Year B
O Lord our governor, whose glory is in all the world: We commend this nation to thy merciful care, that, being guided by the Providence, we may dwell secure in thy peace.  Grant to the President of the United States, the Governor of this State, and to all in authority, wisdom and strength to know and to do thy will. Fill them with love of truth and righteousness, and make them ever mindful of their calling to serve this people in thy fear; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end.  Amen

New Youth Director Selected!
Geoff Sasser has accepted our offer to become our Youth Director.  His position will officially  begin September 1, 2015.  We are blessed indeed by his plans to become part of our All Saints Staff!  He will be completing his time with Grace Memorial Episcopal Church in the near future, and is looking forward to making our parish his church home and family this summer.  Geoff brings much experience in youth ministry, is articulate and passionate about it, ready to pick up where Chris Bailey left off.  We give thanks to God for guiding him to us!

Mother Laura

Dear All Saints Family,
Thank you for your send off and kind words in church last month. I so appreciated them and all the ways you have supported our youth ministry at All Saints. Thank you too for the gift card to Powell's!
Peace,
Chris Bailey

North Carolina Bishop Michael Curry elected as 27th Presiding Bishop
Curry was elected on the first ballot by the House of Bishops from a group of four nominees. He received 121 votes of a total 174 cast.  The vote was confirmed later by the House of Deputies by a vote of 800 to 12.  Curry said, “we are followers of Jesus – Jesus of Nazareth – and the truth is we’ve got a message to proclaim, a life to live and something to share and offer the world. There’s a lot of suffering in this world. There’s a lot of heartache, there’s a lot of nightmare. We are people who believe that God has a dream and a vision for this world, and that Jesus has shown us how to follow him in the direction of that and how to help this world live into God’s dream and vision for us now."
The beginning of Curry’s ministry will be celebrated by a liturgy on November. 1, All Saints Day, at Washington National Cathedral.
Memorial Service for long-time member, Mary Williams, will be held on Saturday, July 18th, at 2:00 p.m. in the Our Savior Chapel, All Saints.  May was a parishioner at All Saints from 1960 to 1989.  May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Deacon Kathleen
Each Sunday morning during the summer, Deacon Kathleen must leave promptly at 12:30 after the 10:15 service for her internship commitment at the Lents International Farmers Market at 92nd and Foster. She invites you to visit this small but unique farmers market on your way home after church, open Sundays 10 to 3. It is sponsored by Zenger Farm, a working urban farm located at 11741 SE Foster Road, that models, promotes and educates about sustainable food systems, environmental stewardship, community development and access to good food for all.
Why not make it a tradition to bring food and hygiene articles every 4th Sunday and place them in the donation barrel located in the Narthex.  When filled baskets are blessed at the altar during the Eucharist. William Temple House operates a food pantry, children’s clothing closet, pastoral services, and low-cost counseling services.

Summer is coming.
Please remember to keep your pledges current.
Bills don't take a vacation!
ECO-FAITH NOTES

Do emissions of carbon dioxide from human activities have a big impact on Earth's climate?

Plants, oceans, and soils release and absorb large quantities of carbon dioxide as a part of the Earth's natural carbon cycle. These natural emissions and absorptions of carbon dioxide on average balance out over time. However, the carbon dioxide from human activities is not part of this natural balance. Ice core measurements reveal that carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere are higher than they have been for at least 800,000 years. The global warming that has been observed in recent decades was caused by elevated levels of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, due primarily to human activities.
