Week of August 24, 2015 | KC Downtown Streetcar Construction Update
20th: Traffic signals to be turned on this week.
19th: Construction continues on the southbound platform ("Corssroads" stop).
18th: Reconstructing curb, sidewalk and ADA ramps continues.
CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT
12th - 7th: Installing overhead power poles continues.
12th: Northbound and southbound traffic dropped to one lane, access to driveways and parking garages maintained.
14th Street southbound platform ('Power & Light' stop) construction continues.
14th: Night work for wire runs. "No Parking" signs will be promptly enforced.
11th & Petticoat: Traffic signal work.
9th Street southbound platform ('Library' stop) construction continues.
7th Street: Construction on "North Loop" platform continues.
Delaware: Brick reconstruction begins.
4th & Delaware: Streetcar stop construction continues. No parking on east side of street (in spaces directly across from work zone).
3rd & Grand: Brick corner reconstruction.
2nd & Oak: Clear and grub work.
'Singleton Yard' Vehicle Maintenance Facility: First power substation delivery anticipated Monday.
Streetcar platform construction is ongoing. Anticipated completion of all private (third-party) utility work is Summer 2015. KC Streetcar Constructors' track work continues in the Central Business District through July 2015. Systems work, such as the overhead power system, will continue through Summer 2015. Streetcar vehicles estimated to arrive in fall 2015. Systems testing estimated to begin in mid fall 2015.
About the Downtown Kansas City Streetcar Starter Line
The two-mile, north-south Downtown KC Streetcar will travel along Main Street and connect the River Market to Crown Center and Union Station, serving the Central Business District, the Crossroads Art District, and the Power and Light District, as well as numerous businesses, restaurants, art galleries, educational facilities and residents.
