SNOW

This Week

CROSSROADS
Pershing to 20th
20th & Main: Track work at the north end of the bridge deck to connect the northbound track segments. No street closures associated with this work. Anticipated completion week of January 12. Potential concrete pour the week of January 12.

Week of Jan 12: Southbound track construction to start at 20th St. 20th St open to one lane east bound ONLY on Jan 12 from 8am-2pm. Westbound traffic from Walnut to Main is closed. 
20th to 17th
Starting Jan 10, OCS work on the east side of Main St from Truman Rd South to 18th St. Work will take place within the east side parking lane. 

Northbound track work between 18th and north of 20th St anticipated for completion Jan. 23, weather dependent.

Week of Jan 12: Southbound track construction to start at 20th St. 20th St open to one lane east bound ONLY on Jan 12 from 8am-2pm. Westbound traffic from Walnut to Main is closed. 

Week of Jan 12: 19th St closed to eastbound traffic between Main and Walnut due to Water Services work. THIS IS NOT STREETCAR RELATED.
17th to Truman Road south
Starting Jan. 10: OCS work on the east side of Main St from Truman Rd South to 18th St. Work will take up the east side parking lane in this segment.

16th closed Baltimore-Main for non-streetcar related work
CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT
Truman Road north to 12th
Northbound track work from Truman Road north through 13th St. Weather dependent, track slab pour anticipated for Saturday, Jan. 17.

Closure: 14th St closed to thru traffic starting Wednesday morning, Jan. 14 through Friday afternoon, Jan. 16. Local traffic can enter 14th St from Walnut ONLY. No east bound turns from Main St onto 14th St. 
12th to 10th
10th & Main: Private utility work continues. 10th, Baltimore to Main, remains one-way eastbound until the private utility work at all four corners of the intersection has been completed. Suggested pedestrian crossing at either 9th St or Petticoat Lane. Anticipated completion: February 2015. 

Petticoat & Main: Water work starting at Petticoat and working south on Main.
10th to 7th
Private utility work is now on the southwest and northwest corners of 10th and Main St. 10th, Baltimore to Main, remains one-way eastbound until the private utility work at all four corners of the intersection has been completed. Suggested pedestrian crossing at either 9th St or Petticoat Lane. Anticipated completion: February 2015.

Petticoat open to local traffic only. No parking along Petticoat. No semi-trucks.

Water Work: 
Water and sewer work along Main St from 9th to 7th St. 
7th to Independence
No significant activity.
RIVER MARKET
5th, Delaware to Grand
OCS work at 5th St between Grand and Delaware. 
5th & Delaware: Curved track work starts this week. Various lane closures.  Work is anticipated to take 4 weeks.

The traffic pattern for this portion of 5th St during this segment of work will be as follows:
  • 5th St is open to two-way traffic up to the alleyway on the south side of 5th St, just east of Delaware. At that point, traffic on 5th can only move westbound. 
  • There will be no eastbound turns from Delaware onto 5th St. 
Grand, 5th to 3rd
Anticipated week of Jan 12: Traffic signal work at the intersection of 5th & Grand. 
3rd, Delaware to Grand
Main line water work along 3rd St from Delaware to Grand. On-street parking is limited.  
Delaware, Independence to 3rd
Water Work and Signal Work:
  • 4th &Wyandotte: Water main valve work.   
Track Work:
  • Delaware, between 5th and Independence, northbound track work starting week of Jan 12.  Work anticipated to last 4 weeks. 
The traffic pattern for this portion of Delaware is as follows:
  • Delaware St. closed to northbound traffic between Independence and 5th St.
  • 5th St is open to two-way traffic up to the alleyway on the south side of 5th St, just east of Delaware. At that point, traffic on 5th can only move westbound. 
  • No eastbound turns from Delaware onto 5th St. 
Grand to Vehicle Maintenance Facility
Structural steel beams are being erected at the Singleton Yard.

 

Anticipated completion of all private (third-party) utility work by Spring 2015. KC Streetcar Constructors' track work continues in the River Market, Crossroads and Power and Light District into February 2015.  Water/sewer work anticipated to be complete by late Spring 2015. Systems work, such as the overhead power system, will continue into Summer 2015.
About the Downtown Kansas City Streetcar Starter Line
The two-mile, north-south Downtown KC Streetcar will travel along Main Street and connect the River Market to Crown Center and Union Station, serving the Central Business District, the Crossroads Art District, and the Power and Light District, as well as numerous businesses, restaurants, art galleries, educational facilities and residents.

This weekly construction update provides weekly, at-a-glance information related to the streetcar construction that is taking place this week.  For more information, including upcoming work, check out the project website and follow the streetcar on Twitter (@kcstreetcar) and Facebook. All work activities and time frames are subject to change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances. 

This update is organized into 12 construction segments, starting at the southern end of the project at Union Station and working north through the River Market.
