Week of August 10, 2015 | KC Downtown Streetcar Construction Update

CROSSROADS

Main St viaduct: New surface overlay is poured and curing this week. Next week: construct pedestrian island and complete finishing work on the track turnout.
20th: Continue reconstruction at southeast corner. Watch for pedestrian detours. Begin reconstruction of curb, ADA ramps and sidewalk corner at northwest corner on Thursday 8/13.
20th & Main: Installing traffic signal poles. 4-way stop starting Tuesday.
18th, northeast and southeast corners: Reconstructing curb, sidewalk and ADA ramps.
Truman Road south, southeast corner: Reconstructing curb, sidewalk and ADA ramps.

CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT

12th - 7th: Installing overhead power poles
14th - 12th: Installing mast arms on power poles. Rolling traffic with KCPD officers.
7th Street northbound platform construction (east side of Main): Anticipated completion by end of August.
Delaware Bridge (7th - Independence): Sealing the bridge deck one half at a time. Monday-Wednesday,one southbound lane open. Anticipated traffic change on Thursday. Thursday-Friday, one northbound lane open.
Westbound 10th closed between Main-Baltimore. Bus loading zone relocated on 10th between Baltimore-Main.

RIVER MARKET

5th, east of Delaware, between Main and alley: Repairing track boot. Parking lots on north and south sides of 5th will be right-turn in/out only through Friday afternoon. Both lots fully accessible over the weekend. Two-way traffic maintained on 5th throughout the work. Work may continue on Monday 8/17.
3rd & Delaware, northeast corner: Complete concrete work for ADA ramps, curb and sidewalk reconstruction. Restoration of surrounding brick pavers will follow.
4th & Delaware: Streetcar stop construction. No parking on east side of street (in spaces directly across from work zone). Anticipated completion end of August.

Streetcar platform construction is ongoing. Anticipated completion of all private (third-party) utility work is Summer 2015. KC Streetcar Constructors' track work continues in the Central Business District through July 2015. Systems work, such as the overhead power system, will continue through Summer 2015. Streetcar vehicles estimated to arrive in fall 2015. Systems testing estimated to begin in mid fall 2015.

About the Downtown Kansas City Streetcar Starter Line
The two-mile, north-south Downtown KC Streetcar will travel along Main Street and connect the River Market to Crown Center and Union Station, serving the Central Business District, the Crossroads Art District, and the Power and Light District, as well as numerous businesses, restaurants, art galleries, educational facilities and residents.
