Week of November 16,  2015 | KC Streetcar Update


Testing of KC Streetcar vehicle #801 continues this week.  Anticipate the streetcar to make runs on Main Street and around the River Market on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week.  Anticipate that these tests will take place in the morning. 

Please do not park on the tracks or double park on the streetcar route.
When parking along the streetcar route, please make sure the entire parked vehicle is within the white painted line, this includes wheels and side mirrors. 

If cars are in violation of this parking rule, they may be ticketed and/or towed at the owner's expense. Read more about parking on the streetcar route here
  • 11/16: Install of public art at Union Station stop.
  • 11/16: KC Streetcar crews will be installing a real-time arrival sign on the Kauffman Stop shelter at 16th & Main.  There will be limited or no parking near this area during work. 
  • 8th: Northwest corner: Ramp and sidewalk work
  • 9th: Northeast corner: Ramp and sidewalk work. Streetlight work continues.
  • 11th & Petticoat: Corner reconstruction on the northeast corner continues. Petticoat remains open. 
  • 12th: Signal work on northeast and southeast corner. Northbound and southbound traffic maintained. Traffic pushed to west side of Main Street. Access to parking garages maintained.
  • 13th: ADA ramps, curb and crosswalk work.
  • 14th: Southwest corner work. 
  • Job wide street light work and permanent signage installs continues.
  • 3rd & Grand: Roadway paving and corner work.
  • 3rd: Construction of "River Market North" station stop continues. 3rd Street a one-way to eastbound traffic only between Walnut & Grand. 
  • 11/16: Install of real-time arrival sign on the City Market shelter at 5th & Walnut. Because of the size of the equipment to lift the reader onto the platform, parking will not be available on 5th between Main and Walnut. Crews anticipate picking up the "no parking" signs by 5:00pm on Monday.             
About the Downtown Kansas City Streetcar Starter Line
The two-mile, north-south Downtown KC Streetcar will travel along Main Street and connect the River Market to Crown Center and Union Station, serving the Central Business District, the Crossroads Art District, and the Power and Light District, as well as numerous businesses, restaurants, art galleries, educational facilities and residents.
