PRAC Updates June 16, 2020

Happy Fathers’ Day

Have you visited many of the online studio and gallery tours?
Angie Littlefield ~ angielittlefield.com
Fine Kettle of Friends
Canadians have a romantic image of the painter Tom Thomson as a solitary individual, paddling alone through the wilds of Ontario, vigorously sketching scenes from nature that he would convert into large oil canvasses at his Toronto studio—a man thoroughly, even exclusively, dedicated to his art, totally immersed in the creation of what have become iconic images of the Canadian landscape.

Amanda Hale ~ amandahale.com
Mad Hatter
Author of Mad Hatter, The Reddening Path, My Sweet Curiosity, In the Embrace of the Alligator.
Learn about Amanda Hale’s progress from self-published chapbooks to small publishers and now to mid-sized independent publisher, Guernica Editions, for her blockbuster novel The Mad Hatter.

The Burtynsky Grant

2020 Burtynsky Grant
Deadline Extended! September 28, 2020

Photographer Edward Burtynsky and CONTACT are requesting submissions for the 2020 Burtynsky Grant—a $5,000 annual grant to support a Canadian artist in the creation of a photobook.

Established in 2016, this grant is intended for photo-based artists who are in the advanced stages of developing a cohesive, rigorous body of work presented in book form. The jury is looking for submissions from those that have created a book dummy and who have had little to no prior opportunity to self-publish or work with a publisher. You must be a Canadian citizen or resident to be eligible.

Luminato Festival Toronto: Virtual 2020 was streaming for free this weekend! Bringing more than 70 artists to audiences around the world, the festival will feature theatre, music, film, dance, conversation and more from June 11-13.
