Facebook Virtual Art Show
A virtual group exhibition here on Facebook focusing on the healing power of art, curated by Allan O'Marra. Each of the 33 artists was asked to identify a personal emotional or physical trauma/issue and each made a work of art, in the medium and style of their choice, that was intended, in its creation, to assist in the healing of the issue. All of the works are on display in this album. HERE

In the new Zoom world, Indie Authors attached to Pickering may be all over the globe. Prior to Covid, Amanda Hale split her time among Ontario, British Columbia and Cuba. She participated in Artfest online this past May. Amanda writes that on Hornby Island in BC she has been less affected by Covid measures than those who live in or near large cities. She sold over 100 books at the Hornby summer market. In October, she did a Zoom presentation on Mad Hatter for Toronto's Arts and Letters Club. Here's a rundown on her fall/winter Zoom digital efforts: 32 Books in North Vancouver https://www.facebook.com/32booksgallery/posts/3565789566777430
Nov 24 Zoom presentation with Harrogate College in Yorkshire, which was her old boarding school. Let's hope this one gets posted as Amanda will talk about the influence of college teachers on her career. Amanda will do a Probus Club presentations - Dec 8th with the Comox BC group - Orca Probus. Good on Probus Clubs to support Canadian authors!

Public sculptures in your neighbourhood
In our January edition of ArtScene, we will showcase recent public installations in Pickering. During 2021 we hope to feature public outdoor sculptures in several issues. Ajax has an excellent list online, but we are having trouble finding them in other communities. Please let us know what's in your neighbourhood either the location and/or send us a photo.
Greetings from RESOUND Choir!!
We invite you to enjoy a free virtual concert with beautiful choral music, wonderful instrumental playing, moving graphic art, and stunning photography!!
Our concert, "The Earth I Know", explores themes of transformation, peace, and innovation while celebrating the beauty of our natural world. With an eclectic collection of five virtual choir videos along with individual artistic contributions from choristers, this performance has something for both the experienced concert-goer and the choral newcomer. We would be thrilled to have you join us on November 28 at 7:00 pm to celebrate our collective effort. Please say you'll come!
Tickets are free on Eventbrite, however, "purchasing" one is necessary so we can send you the livestream link on the day of the concert (the list of attendee emails will be pulled from the Eventbrite report). Free tickets are available here.
We're looking forward to seeing you on November 28!
