Indie Authors Gathered Around Pickering
By Angie Littlefield
Lucy E.M. Black was one of three authors featured at Blue Heron Books Canadian Independent Bookstore Day on Saturday August 29. The event, rescheduled from April, featured Kerry Clare, whose Waiting for a Star to Fall, comes out in October, Ted Barris, author of multiple non-fiction works that focus on Canada’s military heritage and “our” Lucy, whose Stella’s Carpet is due out in 2021. Readers might also want to check out Lucy’s brand new newsletter, Some Thoughts at https://mailchi.mp/c0bbf5837957/some-thoughts-august-2020/ The first edition is filled with great reading ideas for those book clubbers out there, raring to go.
In 2020, Culture Days invites event organizers and the public alike to view arts and culture programming and participation through the thematic lens of Unexpected Intersections—encouraging creative and outside-the-box thinking to reveal new avenues of discovery, learning, and expression. We hope this theme inspires new collaborations to flourish. This may take shape by developing innovative partnerships, or fusing seemingly opposite disciplines to create fresh, and perhaps unconventional, programs and events.
