“Making art is hard work!” says high realist painter, Diane Huson
Invariably, the first thing people ask artist, Diane Huson, upon viewing her high realist oil on canvas paintings is, “How long did it take to paint that?!” “Thirty-five years!” (give-or-take, the length of time she has been working as a professional artist) she often answers. Cathedral Village Arts Festival in Regina moves their festival online.
Attention artists, artisans, crafters and independent authors
Artfest is Moving Online!
Due to the current situation, the City of Pickering is pleased to offer an online event this year, and continue to support the Arts at pickering.ca/culture.
This new approach is free for vendors and will include a Virtual Arts Market of Artists, Artisans, Crafters, Makers, and Independent Authors.
Your virtual booth can be any or all of the following: sale, show, demonstration or workshop. The Virtual Arts Market will be positioned alongside performances, activities, and workshops for Arts Enthusiasts across the region, and beyond.
All are welcome. Please feel free to share with your contacts.
Artfest 2020 will operate online from Saturday, May 23 to Friday, May 29, 2020.
Following the event, we will collect your feedback, and potentially extend the Virtual Arts Market through to the end of 2020.
A few house-keeping points:
Exclusions and Removal of Objects | No manufactured, mass produced, or non-Canadian items are allowed. This market is for limited edition, or original works, which have been produced/created in Canada.
The City reserves the right to remove applicants from the program at any time, in-line with the City of Pickering Community Events Policy.
Videos and Workshops | We are happy to include online workshops, lessons and services you provide, so long as they fall in-line with current protocols regarding social and physical distancing, and content is kept family-friendly.
Your submission content may be shared on City or Regional social media and websites to promote the program. Contributors will be credited on all promotions that showcase your work.
Partners, and vendors contributing content are also welcomed to post their content on their websites/social media channels so long as you include a mention of the Virtual Arts Market or Artfest on the Esplanade, along with the web and social media handles: pickering.ca/artfest @pickeringevents #stayhomemakememories
Program details and terms are subject to change.
Participation must be confirmed through this online form. Deadline to confirm participation is Friday, May 15, 2020.
