President's Report

It was a fitting end to the competitive part of the 2014 season to see this proud football club really come together and unite as one during the 3rd Annual Pride Football Australia Tournament in October. Never before has Sydney Rangers been able to cope with the demands of hosting a major tournament which continues to grow in size and scope each year, and it is a tribute to everyone involved from our hard working committee, to the coach, captain, vice-captain and all the players, and to our colourful and vocal sideline support that we were able to successfully navigate a fantastically ferocious encounter with our friends from the Melbourne Rovers. And what a match it was! The boys who were fortunate enough to be selected in the lottery draw represented our Club with an intensity and commitment that spoke volumes about the passion this Club shows whenever we put on the mighty sky blue and black of Sydney Rangers FC!

Winter Comp was another massive success in 2014 with all three teams making it through to finals footy for the first time, but perhaps it shows how far we have come competitively, there was even room for a tiny tinge of disappointment that one of our teams couldn't win Rangers' first Premiership medal. But taking nothing away from our 3 teams who each in their own way rewrote the history books with our Club's first Minor Premierships for our Rangers A and Over 35's boys, and Rangers B won the boys' first finals match in one of the highlight games of the season. This was all capped off by another memorable End of Season Awards night and we thank the hard work which goes into organising these quality events from everyone who was involved.

Now for many of our members, this may be the off season and a time for sun, beach and relaxing but there is still plenty of football for everyone who wants to keep engaged with the Rangers. Sunday Social is back back and this week we return to what we hope will be our new Sunday home of Bat & Ball Park (click here for map) at the bottom of the grass ski slope and AFL field. The address is corner of South Dowling Street & Cleveland Street, Moore Park and as the field has been recently refurbished, we look forward to playing there every Sunday at the new summer time of 4pm.

Summer Nights Soccer also starts next week on Wednesday 19 November for 5 weeks in the lead up to Xmas so if you are interested please join the Facebook event (click here) and let us know you want to play.

I would like to personally encourage all of players and members who are new to Rangers to come along and say hello over the Summer. The goal is to have 4 winter comp teams in 2015 so there is plenty of room at Sydney Rangers, the inclusive football club for everyone. Stay safe and enjoy the rest of 2014!

Rangers Awards Night 2014

The Sydney Rangers Football Club held the 2014 End of Season Awards Night on September 20th, upstairs at the Midnight Shift.

The night kicked off with a stunning debut drag performance from the Rangers very own queen, Amber Crombie. Hosts' Duncan Jones and Ben Bagshaw were back by popular demand to take us through a celebration of the 2014 Winter Season’s highlights & achievements, along with a large dollop of friendly ridicule for the less than spectacular moments of the season.

The Rangers favourite game Top or Bottom was back as well as a bunch of new games Through the Keyhole, Taller Than A DV (yes, he is shorter than a whales penis) and Mr & Mrs.

After the awards most players and partners stayed out late partying at the Shift, making shapes and body popping like it was Ibiza 1999 (Sherif).

Eurogames Stockholm: 5 – 9 August 2015

The Rangers are going to Sweden!

This is an early call out to all players interested in playing in the EuroGames Stockholm (5-9 August 2015). We’ve already had interest from a few players that are keen to attend and we need to have 15 players minimum to form an 11 aside team. Anyone who’s been on a Rangers international trip before knows what a great lifetime experience this will be!

If you are interested please email committee@sydneyrangersfc.com.au and we can put together a team. And look out for the Facebook event page too! We would like to know ASAP so we can take advantage of the early bird rego before 31.12.14 NYE (65 Euros per person).

Club Merchandise: Polos & Bag Offer

Rather than collecting dust in our storeroom, Rangers is giving all 2014/15 FULL PLAYER members a FREE POLO SHIRT. Social & supporter members can also get the polos for the discounted price of $15 per shirt.

Our Rangers football bags are great quality too - and you can fit everything you need for match day in them with plenty of room to spare. We've discounted these to $15 per bag.

Please email your committee if you don't have a polo or want a bag.

Thank You St George Bank!

Rangers thanks St George Bank and the Happy Dragon for the generous partnership as part of the community outreach program for the new Darlinghurst branch whereby Rangers received a $500 cheque!

Have you been to the new Darlinghurst branch to talk about your financial future?

New Player Rep

Joel Larsen

We encourage all new players to seek out committee member Joel Larsen who will be Rangers' "familiar face" to welcome all of the new social players at Sunday Social at Bat & Ball Park.

Joel understands what it's like joining a new club as he only joined Rangers 12 months ago and he sees his role to make sure new players are made to feel welcome, included and special. Please make sure to say hi to Joel!

Committee Position Becomes Vacant

President Joseph Roppolo would like to thank Bruce Nagle for his exemplary service and worthwhile contribution to the Rangers committee over a number of years. Bruce leaves the Fundraising & Sponsorship Coordinator role.

Could all interested Sydney Rangers members  formally apply for the vacant position in writing by midday Tuesday 18 November.
