President's Report

Just as the World Cup hangover starts to clear, is the realisation we all have another 4 long years to wait until the next greatest show on Earth. So here's a recap of the mad month that was...

The World Cup in Brazil was a feast of football that spectacularly delivered on so many levels. There were some sensational matches starting with Netherlands 5-1 hammering of world champions Spain and the Socceroos did our nation proud with a young and inexperienced side giving the "Oranje" one of the games of the tournament. Surely Timmy Cahill's volleyed goal will go down as one of the greatest of all time! Suarez's bite on Chellieni was pure black comedy and for drama, nothing compared to the trauma of watching the host-nation's 7-1 implosion to the Germans in their own backyard. Germany were deserved winners capped off by a brilliant Mario Götze goal and Brazil even had the last laugh, as Messi and co failed to find the net despite the better chances.

I'm sure there were lots of bleary eyes in Sydney from all the early morning starts but now that it's over, there's no time to spare for the "World Cup blues". For the first time in Rangers' proud history, all 3 Winter Comp teams will take part in our very own finals series and this weekend we cheer on the A's who have the chance to win the Minor Premiership and join our historic 35's team who cemented theirs last weekend. This year's success is testament to the quality and commitment of you the players and, of course, the hard work and dedication of our Coaches - Rob & Duncan in the A's, Ben in the B's and Billy in the 35's have forged a unique competitive team spirit and deserve every success. Training has been of such a high standard all season and it has been pleasing to see so many players attend even on a bitterly cold night at Birchgrove.

Over the next few weeks, we have so much happening on and off the football field starting this Saturday 26 July "Pre-Finals Party" at The Midnight Shift where we hope all winter comp and social players will join us in a Rangers' celebration of our 3 teams making the finals. I do need to stress the importance of all winter comp players renewing your membership over the next 2 weeks on MyClubMate so that everyone is eligible to play in Ranger's annual Justin Fashanu Cup match against the Melbourne Rovers and also attend the End of Season Gala event on 20 September. Please make sure to complete the Survey for JF Cup & Pride Football Australia to enter the Lottery Draw on Saturday 9 August at The Midnight Shift.

As we embark on the pursuit of Rangers' first ever Premiership winner's medal, we wish
all players, coaches and our many supporters all the best of luck in the Winter Comp finals and trust you will represent this Club with passion, pride and respect for the opposition.

Pride Football Australia, Sydney:
10-12 October 2014

Whether you are new to Rangers or have played in the Justin Fashanu Cup and Pride Football Australia before, this is a special tournament close to the hearts of all Rangers.

We hope you will get involved and represent Rangers with PRIDE as we attempt to win our first Cup against Melbourne Rovers on home soil. The tournament has a strong anti-homophobia message and all players, officials and spectators are encouraged to celebrate the strength and diversity of our football community.

All winter comp players who are FULL financial members are eligible to go into the lottery draw for the Cup game and we also encourage SOCIAL and SUPPORTER members to get involved in the football fun!

Membership Fees Are Now OVERDUE

The new membership year commenced on 1st July 2014 and all winter comp players are required to renew their membership as a condition of taking the field for Rangers for the coming 12 months.

How do I become a member?
The only form of payment accepted is via MyClubmate. Please make sure to enter the password "rangers" and "Add New Player" (even if you are actually renewing) before making payment with your credit card. Cash and direct debit to Sydney Rangers bank account will not be accepted to ensure proper accounting for subscriptions.

Sydney Rangers FC has changed banking institutions so PLEASE DO NOT use the old WESTPAC account as we risk losing your payment & your membership renewal may be delayed.

Why do we pay membership fees and become a member?
To help Rangers cover all the Club's annual fees such as paying admin costs, insurance & purchasing training equipment. The only way we can ensure players are covered under our third party insurance policy is if they become members and enjoy all the great Rangers' events such as Pride Football Australia (Justin Fashanu Cup), Summer Soccer Comp, Social Sunday, MG 6-A-Side Football and international comps. Members have a direct say in the running of the Club such as voting rights at the AGM and choosing the committee.

What if you don't become a member?
Those who do not renew by 9 August are not eligible for the draw of our Justin Fashanu Cup team & risk missing the End of Season Awards Night on 20 September. All winter comp players must be FULLY paid ASAP.

Membership fees for the 2014/15 are as follows:
Full - $50
Social - $30
Supporter - $20

Players in need?
If any player is finding it difficult to pay or has any questions about membership, please let the committee know. We are here to help.
