Issue #255

Could you spend an hour locked in a cage?

Non-human animals within our food, entertainment, testing, and clothing industries spend their entire lives confined. We only have to endure a few weeks or months of confinement.

Hundreds of activists around the world spent hours locked in cages as part of the #CoronavirusConfinementChallenge.

This video highlights 5 activists who documented their experience taking the confinement challenge.

Wet/Live Markets: Coronavirus Confinement Challenge

This week we are asking people to take the Coronavirus Confinement Challenge and put themselves in the position of the victims enslaved, tortured, and killed in wet/live markets.

Non-humans typically enslaved and killed at wet markets: fishes, ducks, chickens, rabbits, and other small "wildlife."

Join the hundreds of people around the world who have participated in the challenge. Together we must do what we can to bring these industries down!

How to participate:

  1. Decide which cage/crate you want to use
  2. Measure & create a living space for any farmed animal in your own home
  3. Choose how long you will stay confined
  4. Share your experience on social media
  5. Tag Animal Save Movement & 3 friends to take the challenge
  6. Use #CoronavirusConfinementChallenge & #SwitchToPlantBased

"We can't possibly know how non human animals feel spending their entire lives in confinement and captivity.⠀⠀
But we can try to experience what they go through.⠀⠀
We are using this opportunity to learn, educate, empathize and understand."

The Challenge across Canada

Since the challenged launched on Friday, April 3rd, hundreds of people have taken the challenge... across 6 continents.

Please scroll down to see how some people took the challenge.

"The first thing that hit me is even though I did it voluntarily, I really didn’t wanted to be there, not as much for the physical discomfort rather that I didn’t wanted to think about incarceration, misery, pain, cruelty." - Agnes Cseke

Steinbach Animal Save organizer, Justin, took the challenge too. Will you?

Non-human animals within our food, entertainment, testing, and clothing industries spend their entire lives confined. We only have to endure a few weeks or months of confinement.

"I did 1 hour of confinement in order to replicate what pregnant/nursing pigs endure for months. In no way is this comparable, but I hope it is enlightening." - Bretlyne from Alberta
"This was only a small glimpse of what these non-human animals endure for their entire lives." - Jorin from Regina

Take the challenge and help to raise awareness about what they experience.

Take Action NOW!

Tell health officials to shut down filthy New York City live-animal markets.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) started in a live-animal market in China and is spreading rapidly in the U.S., where live-animal markets are caging and killing animals while putting public health at risk.
