Getting Ready for the Fall
|
|
The leadership teams of both Elora UC and Bethany UC continue to work on returning to some in-person activities this fall. Our primary concern is the safety of everyone, so those who want to take part can do it with confidence.
|
|
We have a re-opening team. They are hard at work through the summer, gathering information and forming plans. We are using guidance from public health leaders and the United Church. They will be making recommendations to our boards when they meet on August 26.
Beginning sometime in September . . .
- We hope to have In-Person Worship in our sanctuary, with safety precautions in place. Distancing requirements will mean that numbers will be limited. (Also, some activities we are used to, such as singing and after-worship fellowship time, might need to be paused, depending what the health recommendations are.
- We hope that Children’s Worship will happen in-person on Sunday mornings. Since most children will not be vaccinated, we need to ensure this is done as safely as possible. Some Sundays, Children’s Worship might be online instead.
- We hope Online Worship will continue to take place. We hope it will be a broadcast of our sanctuary service, and are working on the technology that will make that possible.
- We are unsure about other activities. Expect that they will continue to be online, but we hope we can resume some in-person ones soon too.

The Bethany board has been contacting people by phone to hear their thoughts, hopes, and concerns about the fall. Thank you for all the wisdom you shared!
We met on Tuesday, and decided that Bethany aims to return to in-person worship for Thanksgiving Sunday (October 10).
We still have a lot of things to figure out to make this work safely, including working with the congregation that is renting our building.
Bethany people will be able to continue worshipping online. Also, some might wish to join in Elora UC’s in-person worship when it resumes if space is available.

To make our in-person worship work, a lot of us are going to need to help out. We'll be looking for Greeters, Ushers, Tech Operators, and Cleaners. You'll receive all the training you'll need to do these jobs safely and well. Interested? Please email ministerelorauc@wightman.ca.

As we resume in-person activities, we are prioritizing the health of everyone who is in the building. We will do our best to create environments and activities that people will feel safe participating in.
Together, we will care for each other. Thank you.

|
We ask that everyone serving in volunteer roles in the building . . .
be vaccinated (both doses)
wear masks
screen for Covid-19 symptoms
sign-in and sign-out of the building

For the 5 Sundays in August, our worship will be hosted by Knox Presbyterian Church. It’s services are pre-recorded, so you can watch them anytime after they are put online.
You can see them on Knox’s Facebook page. Just use this link:

Please note: You do not need to belong to Facebook to watch these. When you go to the site, you’ll be asked to make a Facebook account but you can safely ignore that if you wish.
For pastoral care during August, please contact Knox’s minister.
