Now in its 71st year, the Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race (“DW”) is unique in the pantheon of Great British sporting events. At 125 miles long, it remains one of the toughest long-distance sports challenges of any kind.
For many of the competitors, successfully completing the course from Devizes in Wiltshire to Westminster Bridge in the heart of London will be the hardest thing they ever do. Tougher than running several marathons, swimming the Channel or even climbing a mountain. Not for nothing is it referred to as ‘the Canoeist’s Everest’.
Shalini has now completed her iGCSE's at Campus Rangers College. See below for her results.
We continue to fund Alice, the teacher at Home of Peace. and Susanna at Catering College.
As many of you will know Sophie would have been 50 later this year. Steve and I thought that it would be a lovely idea if we could come up with some ideas to remember her, so we are thinking of trying to organise an event [or two] possibly in September - a sponsored walk / run / swim / climb ?
Any ideas you might have would be much appreciated.
Since we set up Sophie's Fund we have been able to support Justine and her lovely girls, with a total of just over £60,000 !
Thank you, everyone, who has supported us in so many different ways, without your help we could never have achieved this.
And of course, together we have kept Sophie's memory alive !
