Answer The Call
By Pamela Warren
Walking in the will of God is a journey that allows you to hear God's voice and answer when He calls. We must know that we are called to fulfill God's true destiny for our life. The call of God is not just for a select few, but for everyone. Often times we go through life searching for temporal things, but God has an ultimate plan; a plan where we can use our spiritual gifts and talents to spread the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Once we submit to the call, we will discover a state of joy that the world didn't give nor can take away. This comes in the form of a revelation of how we matter and how we can make a difference in the life of others.
Growing up in the inner city of Detroit, Michigan I can remember playing church on the school playground with my friends during recess. We would pretend to sing church songs, preach sermons, and every now and then even catch the “Holy Ghost”. Not realizing then God was awakening this innocent 9 year old little girl's spirit to want to imitate a life of Jesus Christ. As I begin to grow and learn more about God's goodness, I discovered a strong desire not only to know Him but to actively serve Him. I can remember being in the hospital and suffering for six months with an unknown diagnosis; subjected to isolation, confused and body sick with fever. The doctors did not know what caused my illness. All I could do is call on the name of Jesus and surrender my will to God. After this life changing experience I knew that God had touched me and healed my body. Each day I thank God for my blessings and how I am called a child of the most High God. I decided that I no longer wanted to be a spectator in the kingdom of God, but an active kingdom worker. This is when I heard the Holy Spirit speak and call my name to full-time ministry. I answered and said… “Yes Lord!”
The calling of the Prophet Isaiah in the bible is an example of answering the call of God. Isaiah witnessed an extraordinary vision of God in the temple. He sees the robe of God’s garment fill the temple with beauty and splendor. There was shaking from the praise and worship of God by the heavenly beings. The Prophet Isaiah concluded that he was too sinful to be able to witness such an event to others, but because of God’s graciousness and mercy, he received forgiveness and was cleansed from his unrighteousness. Then he heard God call for someone who is willing to go and Isaiah quickly responded to the call saying send me.
Are you listening to hear what God has called you to do? God has a special plan for your life. Even if you've fallen, you've failed or been rejected, Christ will not turn away from you. Just surrender your cares to the Father and let the Holy Spirit speak to your heart. Stay connected to God's spirit and say yes to His will and His way.
