A Continuing Series of Sermons:

Unitarian Universalist congregations affirm and promote Seven Principles, which we hold as strong values and moral guides. We live out these Principles within a “living tradition” of wisdom and spirituality, drawn from sources as diverse as science, poetry, scripture, and personal experience. Join us as Rev. Tyler presents a series of sermons on the six sources of Wisdom we draw from to deepen our understanding and expand our vision.

The Living Tradition We Share Draws From Many Sources:
  • Direct experience of that transcending mystery and wonder, affirmed in all cultures, which moves us to a renewal of the spirit and an openness to the forces which create and uphold life;
  • Words and deeds of prophetic people which challenge us to confront powers and structures of evil with justice, compassion, and the transforming power of love;
  • Wisdom from the world's religions which inspires us in our ethical and spiritual life;
  • Jewish and Christian teachings which call us to respond to God's love by loving our neighbors as ourselves;
  • Humanist teachings which counsel us to heed the guidance of reason and the results of science, and warn us against idolatries of the mind and spirit;
  • Spiritual teachings of Earth-centered traditions which celebrate the sacred circle of life and instruct us to live in harmony with the rhythms of nature.

Sunday January 12, 2020
Greg Greenway

Straight from a performance at Music on Malphrus, Greg leads our Sunday Service.

In the Name of Love: A Musical Service

Internationally touring singer/songwriter will trace the universality of “Love Thy Neighbor” and connectedness through the lens of his writing.  His songs are his journal of journey from his origins in the nostalgia of the South - Richmond, VA - to his full appreciation of the “inherent worth and dignity of all individuals.”

Sunday January 19, 2020
Rev. Pat Jobe

Stories From The Spiritual Journey

Rev. Charlie Tyler joins Rev. Pat Jobe to tell stories from their spiritual journeys, a sermon time that will continue into the discussion after service. Bring a spiritual story to share. What gets you out of bed in the morning and how does that energy compare to things you have learned as a spiritual pilgrim?

Sunday January 26, 2020
Rev. Dick Hood

UUCL Needs

Greg Greenway – Saturday, 1/11/2020

“Greg Greenway is one of those artists who is so rich a talent that it is difficult to categorize him. He traverses, combines and mixes up musical genres, and manages to open a window on global events that bring us together as citizens of the world. Like other great performers before him, Greenway’s message is that we can all play a part and make a difference in the course of both our private and public lives. But few musicians can do just this with such style, passion and sheer musicality.”  --Folk & Acoustic Music Exchange   www.greggreenway.com
