Wednesday Walkabout

One of my favorite responsibilities each school day is to walk about our halls and classrooms, assessing the quality of teaching, learning, and interactions throughout campus. This Wednesday morning, I enjoyed such an opportunity, and I returned to my office with four pleasing impressions.
  • Our teachers know how to engage our students. The level of attentiveness throughout the day is extraordinary.
  • Hands-on activities keep our students engaged, while making the abstract suddenly understandable and real.
  • Our highly-organized and de Paul-designed classrooms are the perfect setting for teaching, learning, and focus on important matters.
  • Our students smile a lot: during instruction, in the halls, and when on breaks. They were clearly enjoying a Wednesday morning of feeling like the smartest students in the city…which I truly believe they are!

World Civilizations

European Geography
Kremlin Tour
Team 5 tours the world, exploring the cultures of various countries such as Japan, China, and India. This week, they visited Russia. First, the class took turns at the board reviewing European geography through the use of cardinal directions. Then, Mr. Dzanko led them on a tour inside the Kremlin.

Duker Traffic Control

Concerns have been expressed regarding increased traffic congestion on Duker Avenue during the first part of our dismissal time. Arriving before your designated time creates congestion on our small street, so please review your pick-up times below. Please try not to arrive onto Duker Avenue before your time.
Duker Congested
> Car numbers 1-50 (Green)...3:25
Car numbers 51-100 (Orange)...3:30
> Car numbers 101-150 (Red)...3:35
Car numbers 151-200 (Purple)...3:40

We understand that such timing can be difficult, and we appreciate your efforts. Keep in mind that for dismissal, “a little late is better than a little early.” Duker Avenue simply isn’t long enough to accommodate many extra cars.
