The students prepared their desks so that when they returned from recess, they were ready to engage in their next lesson. The color of the folder indicates the subject matter, and the desks are free of extraneous materials.

Pillars Of Instruction: Our MAPS To Success

Our instructional heritage is founded upon four pillars. For nearly 50 years, our de Paul School’s instructional, organizational, and cultural “appearance” has been shaped by these fundamentals; they truly distinguish our school. Each lesson and teachable moment with our students will be guided by these attributes, whose acronym is (most appropriately) MAPS.
  • Multisensory Approach: Hands-on activities which concretize concepts for our learners.
  • Attention: Faculty is highly trained in attracting and maintaining students’ attention.
  • Practice: Teaching for mastery, faculty lead students in practice which solidifies understanding.
  • Structure: Classrooms are highly organized, intentional, calm, and free of distractions.

Decorating Spyglass
Outdoor Adventure
Team 1 celebrated Dr. Seuss' Birthday by reading his 1st children's book: And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street. Then they each created a spyglass and went outside to look for inspiration for their own stories.

Put Your Best Fork Forward

National Nutrition Month® (NNM), created by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), is a nutrition education and information campaign celebrated annually each March. The national campaign focuses attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits.

To support our commitment to plant-forward eating, this March we are celebrating National Nutrition Month® with the theme Put Your Best Fork Forward. The culinary focus of this year's promotion is putting plants at the center of our plates. We will feature recipes that utilize the whole plant – think root to stem. We will also feature recipes that put plants in unexpected places like bean and meat blended tacos or mushroom and beef blended burgers.

During NNM, we will emphasize different areas to help our students eat well, including mindful eating, food waste education, plants in unexpected places, and whole grain focus.
