Half Day: NOON DISMISSAL
T6-8 Grandparents Day

Grandparents Day & Writers Expo-Showcase 2017

Today and last Friday we welcomed close to 500 Grandparents and other VIPs to our campus for a special lunch and our annual Writers Expo-Showcase. This is our opportunity as a school family to recognize and honor a vital part of our school community – our GRANDPARENTS! No event is more special and has more appeal to our students than spending time with their grandparents and guests and sharing how they have grown as writers, scientists, critical thinkers, and so much more.

Grandparents play an important role in the lives of their grandchildren! Children find unique acceptance in their relationships with grandparents, which benefits them emotionally and academically. Grandparents can be a major support during day to day struggles that families face. Sometimes they're playmates, advocates, and caretakers for their grandchildren. They're very often role models and mentors for younger generations. They are also historians – teaching values, instilling ethnic heritage, and passing on family traditions.

We would like to thank every grandparent who came to be with us this year. We honor you as you shepherd your grandchildren and their families. We honor you as you support your grandchildren’s education at The de Paul School. We honor you for all that you do to make our school community rich, diverse, and multigenerational.

Team 7 Fluid Forces

Pilot 2
Pilot 1

Team 7 has been studying fluid forces – drag, lift, thrust, and gravity – and their relationship to flight. Robert Sobotka, father of Team 7's Connor, stopped by to talk about his experience as a pilot for UPS. Then the students, in pairs, used their knowledge to choose the paper airplane design they believed would fly the farthest distance.
