A Vacation for Christian

Twenty-two year old Christian had endured several months of treatment for brain cancer and needed something positive to think about. Kellsie’s Hope Foundation was able to give him a break and grant his wish for a Disneyworld vacation. Christian was presented his wish at the Kellsie’s Hope Foundation 2018 Trees of Hope Event in November. He and his family stayed at Disney’s Grand Floridian resort and enjoyed breakfast with Alice in Wonderland. Christian’s trip didn’t stop there, though. After the Grand Floridian, he and his family enjoyed a cruise to the Bahamas and a surprise visit to his grandparents where they enjoyed a holiday dinner together. Christian’s mother expressed her gratitude when she shared “Our family has just enjoyed the most joyous and exciting trip to the Happiest Place on Earth.  After 6 grueling months of surgeries and cancer treatments, our family feels renewed and alive again.  We were treated to an amazing experience that was so generous, one which we will treasure forever.  The sweetness of Disney brought back a constant smile to Christian’s face, and the sunshine and fresh air that welcomed us on our Bahamas cruise returned a healthy pink glow to our son’s cheeks once again.  We are honored to be chosen as recipients of this generous gift and be the family to represent all of the love from Gail Marchbanks, the Kellsie’s Hope Foundation, and Kellsie’s Crew.”

Thank you for supporting Kellsie’s Hope Foundation and giving Christian and his family a break from the cancer battle and a happy memory.

Trees of Hope Gala

Kellsie's Hope Foundation's Trees of Hope Gala celebrates Kellsie’s love for the Christmas holidays as dollars are raised to grant wishes for kids with cancer. On November 17, 2018, over 900 guests attended the 7thAnnual Trees of Hope Gala and enjoyed the entertainment that emcee,Tim Ezell, provided. Over 130 items including beautifully decorated trees, wreaths, holiday tablescapes, a ski trip and much more were available for bidding, raffles, and silent auction. Guests witnessed the spirit of giving when two young wish recipients were surprised as they were presented their wishes. Taylor received a golf cart and Christian was given a Disneyworld vacation.  The spirit of giving continued as checks totaling $190,000.00 were presented to Dr. Druley and Dr. VanTine for research to fight childhood cancer.

Each year, Kellsie’s Hope creates a new ornament that includes the names of kids that have been granted wishes throughout the year.  Ornaments are available for purchase at the Trees of Hope Gala.

Holiday cheer was in the air as the 500 pink bulbs on Kellsie’s tree were lit up as donations were made. Gail Marchbanks, Kellsie’s mom, stated, “I continue to be amazed how Kellsie’s dream, her love of Christmas and her Giving Spirit have inspired so many.”

Many thanks to sponsors, volunteers, donors, and supporters who helped make Kellsie’s Trees of Hope Gala a success.

Mark your calendars for the 2019 Kellsie’s Trees of Hope Event on November, 16, 2019!!

Funding Research for a Cure

Kellsie’s Hope Foundation’s mission includes raising dollars to support research to find a cure for childhood cancers.  This was Kellsie's dream from her hospital bed.  At the Trees of Hope event in November 2018, Kellsie’s Hope was proud to present a check for $150,000.00 to Washington University School of Medicine, Druley Lab. The contributions that Kellsie’s Hope Foundation makes to Dr. Druley and his lab are moving research closer to making Kellsie’s dream come true.

Thank you to everyone who supports Kellsie’s Hope Foundation and continues to support finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Osteosarcoma Research

The Trees of Hope event provided a great venue for Dawn Merkel and Kellsie’s Hope Foundation to present Dr. Brian VanTine's group from Washington University Siteman Cancer Center a $40,000.00 check to help support research for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of Osteosarcoma.  Dawn, along with her family and friends, raise money for osteosarcoma research by organizing and hosting a chili cook off in memory of  her son, Sam Merkel.

Thanks to Dawn and everyone who volunteers and attends the Bad to the Bone Chili Cook off to support finding a cure for Childhood Cancers like Osteosarcoma.

Spreading Holiday Cheer

Kellsie’s Hope Foundation's volunteers spread holiday cheer and surprises to children on the oncology floor battling cancer at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, SSM Cardinal Glennon, and Mercy.

Kellsie's favorite holiday was Christmas, so giving smiles to kids on the oncology floors shared Kellsie's uplifting spirit. Itty Bitty trees, small trees with Itty Bitty characters on them, gave the kids more reasons to smile and a tree of their own. The trees were sponsored for $100 by guests at the 2018 Seventh Annual Trees of Hope Gala.  A total of 60 trees with gift cards to either Target or Walmart were delivered.

Your continued support helps brings smiles to kids who are fighting the most important battle of their young lives, the battle of Childhood Cancer.  It is Kellsie’s Hope Foundation’s mission to help kids and their families forget about their cancer, even for a brief moment, and to put a smile on their faces.

Thank you for helping us keep Kellsie’s dream alive to help Children with Cancer.
