$100,000 Raised for Childhood Cancer Research!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to helping Kellsie's Hope Foundation reach our 5 year goal of raising $100,000 to Childhood Cancer Research! On November 19th Kellsie's Hope Director, Gail Marchbanks, presented the check to Dr. Todd Druley of Washington University in St. Louis. With the support of Kellsie's Hope Foundation, Dr. Druley has been able to grow his lab and their work as well as gain national and international attention. Without this type of support the ability to sustain this lab would be nearly impossible given the severe difficulty obtaining competitive grant funding with only 4% of the national cancer research budget allocated for pediatric cancer.

Dr. Druley and his lab would like to thank everyone who has supported and is working hard for Kellsie's Hope Foundation.

We are excited to see what our future holds and what we can accomplish together to help families with children afflicted by cancer.

If you would like to help us make a difference in the life of a child battling cancer, please help us by making a donation of any size!

$26,000 Raised for Osteosarcoma Research!

Thank you to Dawn Merkel and her family for teaming up with Kellsie’s Hope Foundation and putting on the First Annual Bad to the Bone Chili Cook-off in honor of Sam Merkel.

Kellsie and Sam shared the same Childhood Cancer, Osteosarcoma; along with 7 other Children of the 30 Children Kellsie’s Hope has helped. It was important to us to specifically do a fundraiser for Osteosarcoma.

Dawn had the idea to do a Chili Cook-off, because of Sam’s love for food and fun. Dawn and her committee were as hot as the chili and raised $26,000.00 for Osteosarcoma research.

The check was presented to Sam’s doctor, Dr. Brian VanTine with Washington University Siteman Cancer Center. The funds will be used to support research for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of Osteosarcoma. Thank you again to Dawn and for everyone who is working together with us to help find a cure for Childhood Cancer!

Collin's Dinner With His Nurses

Collin is a 14 yr old boy with Osteosarcoma. Collin’s wish was to take his nurses to dinner at a very nice restaurant, such a kind gesture from a young man with a kind soul who put others before himself.

Kellsie’s Hope arranged for Collin and his parents to be picked up by Eagle Limousine at his home. When they arrived at Cardinal Glennon Hospital, Collin stepped out of the limo, walked into the hospital with 8 yellow roses and presented them to each one of his nurses. After many pictures and selfies were taken with our little bachelor, Collin and the girls were taken to Peppe’s Apt 2, a quaint elegant restaurant in Kirkwood.

When you are in the hospital for long periods of time, the staff becomes like family. Collin wanted to include his hospital family in this fun evening. I know his nurses will be forever grateful for having the opportunity to be a part of this young man’s wish.

At Kellsie’s Hope one of our goals is to provide long lasting memories for family’s that are battling childhood cancer. Thank you, our supporters, without you Kellsie’s Hope would not be able to provide memories like this.

Care Package for Micha

Micha, a 12 yr old boy with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Lymphoma (A.L.L), was surprised with a care package from Kellsie's Hope Foundation. The box was filled with few of his favorite things including a Koala Bear, Star Wars items, gift cards and some other goodies. A.L.L. is one of the more common types of cancers in children, with a high cure rate when caught early. Micha has spent over 50 nights in the hospital for sickness, various side effects and treatments. Micha's mom Jennifer has been a repeat runner for Kellsie's Krew and she and 11 other Wish Upon A Star agents will be running for Kellsie's Hope again in honor of Micha at the Wine & Dine 1/2 Marathon weekend in November. If you would like to help Jennifer meet her goal please visit her page at https://www.firstgiving.com/…/2017-disney-wine-dine-half-ma…
Stay Strong Micha and remember "There's No Place Like Hope".
