The Rule of Odds (& Oddbods)

I've a friend who always points out when I've broken the Rule of Odds, and never agrees with my reasons as to why I did, for instance "Four sheep because that's Mum and Dad, sister and brother". We've agreed to disagree that the Rule of Odds shouldn't be broken. I have wondered if it's because she's a potter, and a cup is always going to have one handle (unless it's a quaich). I suspect she wonders if I can count and paint simultaneously. Read more on the Rule of Odds...

Drawing Every Day:
12 Months of Word Prompt Drawings

Whose 2019 New Year’s resolutions included the one about drawing every day? Well, let Tessa and Eddie who completed all 12 months of my drawing word prompts in 2018 be an inspiration. They’ve proved to us (me included) that it can be done. Thanks to everyone who participated through the year, and all who shared their drawings. It's been fascinating seeing what different things have arisen from the same prompt. And a special mention to Tessa's granddaughter, Amelia, who was inspired to join in too (that's Amelia's November chart in the photo). Take a look...

If you'd like to give it a go, you'll find links to the monthly printable sheets at the bottom of the page, or if you'd like it in A5 wiro-bound book form, head over to my webshop.

Continuous line drawing at the River Rha, in pencil.
(If you don't see the video above, go here.)
I've made another video of my doing some continuous line drawing, this time in pencil, sitting at the River Rha. I remembered to lift the camera to show what I was looking at (you'll notice I stop drawing as I do that!). The previous video using acrylic ink you'll find here.

January Painting Project

There's still not-quite-half of January left, so if you haven't yet started your January Project Painting, you've still time. You'll find the reference photo and instructions here.

Project Extras: You can become a Project Patron via my Patreon page (Patreon is like a membership site, or you can opt to be a patron without any direct reward) and view the exclusive project content when it's published. It also includes the option of a short critique of your painting if you wish.
