Angela Dimayuga - Filipinx: Heritage Recipes from the Diaspora

Bay Area's very own alongside with New York Times writer, Ligaya Mishan is a celebration of Filipino cuisine through Angela Dimayuga's debut cookbook. The wheel is reinvented through refreshing adaptations of traditional staples such as adobo, pancit, kare-kare, lumpia shanghai, sinigang and more all captured so colorfully through Alex Lau's photography. There are so many other gems interspersed throughout the pages such as personal vignettes that map the origin story of Angela's journey with food with homages to her father and Lola. Additional essential reading resources are also included in the end giving a broader scope of the Filipinx / Asian American diaspora. Thoughtful, beautifully designed, and one to add to your collection of cook books.

We're honored to begin offering the full available back catalog of Jacktone, beginning with their vinyl releases, many of which are down to the last few available copies.

Since its inception in 2012, Jacktone Records has been nurturing and weaving together electronic musicians in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond contributing to shaping the underground club landscape of the Bay. The catalog showcases explorations between the sonic realms of house, techno, ambient and experimental electronics, finding many early releases from current household names. Now relocated to Berlin and Detroit respectively, label founders Doc Sleep and Darren Cutlip continue their world building of like-minded artists while still representing a core group of Bay Area artists.

Shop Picks - Pépe and gayphextwin remixing each other on their split EP
Sweet Trip

Sweet Trip return with their first new album in 12 years, created out of the blue, unplanned, with a result that feels like a perfect balance of the more straightforward pop sensibility of You Will Never Know Why (also available for the first time on vinyl) and the wall of sound glitch electronics of velocity:design:comfort. A truly unique and special band.

Shop pick - The simple acoustics and Valerie's gorgeous melody punctuated by subtle electronic flourishes on  "In Sound, We Found Eachother)
SOS Music Volume 2
LA-based SOS Music follows up their first compilation (a shop favorite) with another winner highlighting brand new female and female-identifying talent from around the globe. A general euphoria runs through all seven tracks, though the edge of Volume 1 remains.

Shop pick - the dreamy house of Believe That by Regular Fantasy
Dean Blunt - Black Metal 2

The celebrated follow up to the Black Metal release in 2014 Dean Blunt teams up with Kwake Bass (Giles Kwakeulati King-Ashong) and delivers smoky ethereal sentimental guitar/vox forward expressions of longing and introspections on identity that feel almost timeless drifting somewhere between folk, shoe gaze and avant indie pop.

Shop pick: 'Vigil', for the simplicity of the strings against Blunts spoken word and Joanne Robertson's ghostly vocals and 'SemTex' as I'm reminded how the Ronettes continue to influence future generations of music with the recent passing of Ronnie Spector.
Sansibar - Sans Musique
Helsinki's Sansibar delivers a stunning full length for Kalahari Oyster Cult, riding a truly psychedelic line between breaks and trance, vacillating from darkness to euphoria.

Tip-Acid downtempo groover "Aurora Eclipse"

Shop appointments can also be used to schedule time to practice djing vinyl for those that do not have access to turntables. Will provide lessons for those that would like to learn.
