Heroes' Voices Celebrates Successful First Year!
Vets enjoy a Heroes’ Voices workshop in 2014.
A year ago, Heroes' Voices officially became a registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, and we haven't slowed down since! After a busy few months, everyone here at Heroes' Voices is taking a moment to reflect on a fantastic first year, filled with growth and music. As the year draws to a close, we want to thank you, and all of our supporters, for making it possible to bring the gift of music to even more veterans.
This September, we launched our third series of music workshops for veterans in partnership with the Menlo Park VA. The increasingly popular workshops continue to bring the gift of music to veterans who are desperately in need. The fall series culminated in a celebration of song at Warrior Canine Connection's "Paws For Honor" Veterans' Day event at the Menlo Park VA on Saturday November 8, where our veterans' choir showed off their musical skills. The day was a huge success, giving us all a chance to honor our veterans and also the many groups who work tirelessly to support them.
This fall has also seen tremendous growth in our Guitar Corps program, which has given away dozens of guitars to veterans and veterans' organizations, and presented more than 40 workshop sessions for veterans. Our website also now has free online guitar lessons
for veterans to access at any time and from anywhere in the world, expanding our reach to veterans outside of the Bay Area.
