Farewell to our El Presidente

It is with regret that we share the news that we will be soon saying farewell to our great friend, role model, ever reliable patrolling member and committee chairperson. Jon Carruthers, our Club President is stepping down from his leadership role as he prepares to move interstate.

Our best wishes are with Jon as he pursues a new adventure in the Sunshine State and we know his love for surf lifesaving will surely continue in the warm waters up north.

Jon has generously served  Narooma Surf Club for many years, not only as our President but as a lifesaver and competitor. Jon has always been there to boost our patrolling numbers when we are running short and he has been a familiar face in our water safety
crew at Nippers for many years after his own kidsgraduated the Nippers program.

Jon has always been a regular behind the bar at functions and events but it is in a surfboat that his smile shines the brightest. Whether it be rowing the George Bass Marathon or Sprint races, Jon loves being in the boat and doesn't mind a little banter on the microphone either. He has been known to provide commentary on the PA system at carnivals and never shy providing tv or radio interviews promoting such events.

We will truly miss Jon and his friendly face at the club and around town. He leaves big shoes to fill and we know that his generosity of spirit and sociable, friendly nature will be valued in his new community.

Shout out to our Surf Lifesavers!

A massive thank you to our surf lifesavers, they really are keeping our club afloat. Sorry for the bad pun. These guys and girls are doing some big hours patrolling our beach. We didn't get the big influx of new or returning members we had hoped for but we do have a dedicated group of volunteers are putting in week after week and they deserve a really big pat on the back. Thank you.
