Make a difference this Earth Day.
Join New Pioneers in the Great Global Cleanup!
Celebrate the 50th Earth Day by caring for local landscapes, while also being      a part of a worldwide citizen science effort to gather data on plastic pollution.
How? Simply choose a local green space and do a trash pickup. You could clean a roadside, yard, vacant lot, park, or any place in need of some TLC.
Then, take pictures of your clean-up (before/after shots, photos of filled trash bags, etc.) and post them on New Pioneers’ Facebook anytime during Earth Week (April 20-April 26), and you will be included in a drawing for a package of sustainable living items!

To carry your impact even further, you can register your cleanup and add your data to the international database at
Stay safe by following these guidelines:
  • Practice social distancing and thorough sanitation before, during, and after your cleanup.
  • Choose a safe location and wear bright colors if you’re near a road.
  • Wear gloves and never touch litter directly (or your face) during the cleanup. BBQ tongs, salad tongs, or other pickup devices can help distance you and the litter.
  • Only pick up litter that is safe to handle and can be easily disposed of or recycled.  (Avoid 2-litre bottles with contents inside; they are sometimes used in meth production.)
So, make your plans, gather your bags and protective gear, and get outside to do your part in caring for our planet. Mother Nature will appreciate your time and effort!
