Come explore the woodland or shoreline restoration projects, watch the Island Garden and Children's Garden construction, or wander through the Sensory Garden. We’ve created a place to learn new things about our world! The more you know, the more you’re enriched!

Thanks to a generous grant from Elkhart Rotary Club, children ages 3-5 learn about the natural world around them through stories, music, games and activities in our Lil' Sprouts Program. Learning is based on the Indiana Early Learning Foundations for Kindergarten readiness. A full list of monthly topics HERE.

Plein Air painting is coming to Wellfield! Plein air painting, is a phrase borrowed from the French equivalent meaning “open (in full) air". Have you ever wanted to try your hand at painting? This class will teach you the basics of painting in a fun and comfortable environment. Find a full description HERE.

Have you ever wanted to learn more about birds in your area? Wellfield offers a Saturday Bird Walk once a month on the second Saturday of each month.
On February 18th at 10am we will participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count. This annual event helps track birds for research.
And guess what, there’s an app for that! Come join us to learn more! Audubon Society member and Indiana Master Naturalist Mary Kauffmann-Kennel will be our guide.

Wellfield Botanic Gardens offer hands-on, inquiry-based programs designed to connect students to the natural world. All programs are aligned with State & National Science standards.
