MVT CID HOSTS OFFICE/RETAIL BROKERS TO PROMOTE DEVELOPMENT SITES/SPACE AVAILABLE

On Thursday, November 3, the MVT CID partnered with brokerage firm Meany & Oliver Companies, Inc. to host a luncheon for more than 75 DC-area office and retail brokers. Owners and developers of several MVT office buildings and land sites were on hand to present opportunities to our guests, and local retailers 5th Street Ace Hardware, A Baked Joint and Politics & Prose Bookstore spoke to the vibrancy of the neighborhood. MVT CID President & CEO, Kenyattah Robinson, presented key metrics and demographics to the audience and AAMC President Mark Wood and MVT CID Board Member spoke about that organization’s decision to locate its headquarters to MVT. Special thanks to AAMC for welcoming us to their spectacular building and learning center for this event. Click here to view the slide presentation that details the state of development in the MVT CID.
mvt cid provides neighborhood update to d.c. bar leadership

Immediately following the November 3 broker lunch (above), Kenyattah joined the D.C. Bar’s Board of Governors and other organization leadership at Ottoman Taverna to update them on the latest neighborhood happenings. D.C. Bar is scheduled to occupy its new 100,000 SF building in 2017. Kenyattah’s message focused on how positive attributes and other elements have been skillfully leveraged—namely MVT’s unbeatable location, unparalleled accessibility, and thoughtful planning as a carefully coordinated mixed-use community—to transform the MVT into a vibrant, thriving “sense of place”. Read more about D.C. Bar’s visit and site tour in this article on its website.

fall fun day brings together residents, businesses and visitors for final day of mvt freshfarm farm stand

This year’s Fall Fun Day was a huge success, with families, kids and dogs coming out to enjoy costume contests, free crafts, trick or treating and much more. Our retailers and restaurants upped their game this year with exceptional carved pumpkins for our contest with Mandu’s creation – pictured here – taking the winning spot. Our event sponsors included Busboys & Poets. 5th and K St, 5th Street Ace Hardware, Spot On Training, Metro Mutts, A Baked Joint and The Aspen Apartments DC. We appreciate Pie 360 K Street, our newest retailer in the MVT, coming out to distribute lots (and lots) of pizza and salad samples as well as retailers up and down K Street – from Taylor Gourmet to Mandu and Alta Strada City Vista – who were on hand to pass out candy for our mini-monsters. We want to thank FRESHFARM Markets and Chicano Sol for a fantastic season and ask you to support our seasonal market sponsors – 450K, Lyric 440K Apartments, Meridian at Mount Vernon Triangle, Texas de Brazil, Boston Properties and Steuart Development, without whom the market would not be possible. Check out ALL the photos on our Flickr page here. And see you in 2017 for another exciting FRESHFARM season!
support "small business saturday" in mvt on saturday, november 26

MVT CID has once again partnered with DC’s Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) to support “Small Business Saturday”—a day to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for their communities. According to the federal Small Business Administration, small businesses comprise 99.7 percent of U.S. employer firms and 49.2 percent of private-sector employment. What’s more, local, small businesses comprise 75 percent of the retail and restaurants in MVT. To help celebrate Small Business Saturday, DSLBD once again printed small reusable shopping bags with a special DC logo—1,000 of which have been distributed to businesses throughout MVT. Show your support for small businesses in our community by picking up your own reusable bag at a participating retailer or the MVT CID office at 457 Mass Avenue, shop our local stores, and take a selfie using the #ShopDC hashtag!
