South Ogden City Introduces "The SOFI Awards"

South Ogden City plans to begin recognizing residents and businesses in our community for their contributions and dedication in making South Ogden City a quality place to work and live.

In January of 2015 South Ogden City will be launching its first ever community awards program. This program will be called the SOFI Awards, short for South Ogden’s Finest Awards. This program will consist of 20 different awards categories, with 10 award winners recognized bi-annually. The first set of award winners will be recognized at South Ogden Days in June 2015. The second set of award winners will be recognized in December 2015 at the Old Fashioned Family Holiday event.

SOFI Committee: Award categories will be decided upon by the SOFI Awards Committee. Committee members will serve on the committee from February 2015 to December 2015 and will meet the first Thursday of each month from 6-8pm at City Hall. Committee members will receive $150 for their service on the committee for the year. If you are interested in applying to be a member of the SOFI Awards committee for 2015, registration details and deadlines can be found on our website under the Special Events tab. All applications will be taken online.

Nominations: Nominations can be made by anyone living or working in South Ogden City. Community members will be notified of the award categories via our monthly newsletter. Community members will then be given the opportunity to nominate other members of the community or businesses in South Ogden for specific awards! Nominations will take place online and will be reviewed and selected by the SOFI awards committee.

Awards: Those awarded a South Ogden’s Finest Award will be recognized at one of the two before-mentioned events during the year. Awards winners will also receive a certificate and $200! We encourage all community members to get involved in the SOFI Awards program by applying to serve on the committee, nominating your fellow community members for awards, and spreading the word!

Angel Tree: South Ogden Police Department wishes to thank each of you who assisted in making Christmas dreams come true this season. The Angel Tree was loaded down this year with the needs and wishes of the children in our community and, as always, the residents and businesses within South Ogden City made sure that each child was taken care of. The families that were assisted this year aren’t unlike many of the families in our community; they each fell on hard times for different reasons. Each family was truly grateful for your generosity and requested their gratitude be expressed. Thank you very much!

Thank you Village Inn: Village Inn kindly recognized our police officers and firefighters serving the community on Thanksgiving Day by bringing a donation of delicious pies to the Public Safety Building. Thank you Village Inn; we appreciate your recognition of those working the holidays!
