Youth Council Applications: South Ogden City is accepting Youth City Council applications for the 2014-15 school year. The city of South Ogden sponsors a Youth City Council to provide the youth of our community an opportunity to get involved with city government and offer opportunities for service and education. Regular meetings are generally held once a month. There are multiple service projects throughout the year including service activities associated with City Events (South Ogden Days, Trunk or Treat, Old Fashioned Family Holiday, Easter Egg Hunt, etc. ) A leadership retreat is held annually and the youth are invited to Local Official’s Day at the Legislature. All YCC members must live within South Ogden City boundaries or live in a local community that does not offer a Youth City Council. This is an opportunity to serve your community, develop leadership skills, interact with elected officials and participate in educational experiences. Participation looks great on resumes and scholarship applications and is simply a lot of fun! Applications are available on the city’s website, www.southogdencity.com or can be picked up at the City building. There is a $10 fee for residents and a $100 fee for non-residents. Applications are due by 4:30 pm May 15th. CLICK HERE TO ACCESS APPLICATION

City’s Storm Drain Regulations: Spring is here and we want to remind residents of the City’s Storm Drain Regulations. No chemicals should be poured into the storm drain system because these empty into drainage fields and streams, which then go into the rivers and water supplies in this area. When washing your vehicles or other items outside, use environmentally friendly, biodegradable soaps. When using pesticides or garden products also use environmentally friendly products. Use garden products as directed so no over spray will wash down the gutters. Individuals caught dumping the above items into city gutters or storm drain system will be criminally prosecuted and may be required to pay all costs associated with the cleanup of areas it may affect downstream. Please notify South Ogden Public Works Department at (801)622-2900 if you suspect or witness illegal dumping into our storm drain system.
