Door-To-Door Sales Safety Tips: When a solicitor knocks at your door, knowing a few guidelines can help safeguard you and your family: Ask for proper identification before listening to a sales pitch. By law, solicitors are required to wear a city-issued photo identification badge so you know they are properly registered. Do not allow solicitors into your home; always exercise caution any time a stranger comes to your door. High-pressure sales tactics often lead to buyer’s remorse or falling prey to an unscrupulous seller. By law, and in most cases, you have the right to cancel any contract within three business days after signing an agreement to purchase. Solicitors are required to inform the seller of the right to cancel in writing. Door-to-door solicitors, whether licensed or not, are prohibited from soliciting at a residence between 9 P.M. and 9 A.M. When a "No Solicitation" sign is posted, South Ogden city ordinance prohibits solicitation on the premises. Solicitors violating these laws are guilty of a class B misdemeanor. Should you have concerns about the person knocking at your door, contact the police department promptly at 801-629-8221.

Emergency Preparedness: Know when, where, and how to turn your utilities off in the event of a disaster. Take the time now to locate where the gas, water, and electrical lines come into your home. Be sure you know how to operate electricity circuit breakers as well as the natural gas and water control valves. As you practice your emergency drills, go through the movements of shutting off these utilities. Practice now so you are prepared in case that emergency disaster occurs
