Tax Credit Scholarship

Hello SJS Families,

Each school year we support families through tuition assistance that could not otherwise send their children to Catholic School. An additional way to support these families is through the Tax Credit Scholarship. By donating to the tax credit scholarship today through December 31st your donation will be matched by the Archdiocese and you receive a 75% tax credit!

To put this in perspective, if someone were to donate $1,000 to the tax credit scholarship program before December 31st, the school will receive $2,000 and the donor will receive at $750 tax credit. This means that a net $250 investment can be worth $2,000 for the St. James School's tuition assistance program.

For this 2022 school year, St. James School received approximately $200,000 in requests for tuition assistance on behalf of 34 students. We awarded 27 grants, but left 14 children on the waiting list. Our goal is to give 100% of families the opportunity to be a part of our Blue Ribbon St. James Catholic community.

If you are interested in supporting St. James through the tax credit scholarship program, please follow the simple steps below to make a donation.

If you want to make a donation to support students follow these steps:

Once you receive your MyTax Illinois Account Access Request with your letter ID go to:

https://mytax.illinois.gov/ to register your donation.

Click Sign up now and complete the registration process.
Once registered, log in to your account and you will see on the Summary page the button to click “view more account options”

Under Account Options, click “Contribute to invest in kids”

select “Invest in Kids Region”, “Region 1 - Cook County”, “EMPOWER ILLINOIS” and then enter the amount you intend to donate. Click SUBMIT.

Once complete, go back to the “more account options” page and click “VIEW ACCOUNT LETTERS” there you will see your new CAC (Contribution Authorization Certificate). Download this certificate.

After you have secured your donation with MyTax.Illinois, you are now approved to go to Empower Illinois to complete your donation!

Click “DONATE NOW”
Click “I HAVE MY CERTIFICATE”
Enter personal info and payment to complete the donation – be sure to notate St. James School - Arlington Heights as your school of choice!
