H.B. 244

H.B. 244 Geological Carbon Sequestration Amendments authorizes the Division of Oil, Gas, and Mining and the Board of Oil, Gas, and Mining to establish regulations for the geologic storage of carbon. This is a first for the state and sets it up to successfully store captured carbon.

H.B. 168

H.B. 168 Preferences of Water Rights Amendments addresses preferences of water rights during a temporary water shortage and prioritizes water used for energy production.

S.C.R. 3 Concurrent Resolution Highlighting Utah’s Rare Earth Mineral Position recognizes Utah's unique position as an essential source for critical minerals and encourages cooperation between state and federal stakeholders to take advantage of the critical minerals and rare earth elements found in the state.

One Utah Summit

State Energy Plan

As an independent, technical office, the work we do is vital in navigating the rapidly-changing energy landscape. In 2021, our office began the process of creating a State Energy Plan. We are excited to announce the final plan will be released at the One Utah Summit on May 10th. Stay tuned!

Dusty Monks is the newest member of our of team. A native to the Uintah Basin and stationed there full time, Dusty’s role as the Oil and Gas Liaison is to be a support for the Basin - being the boots on the ground to help find hindrances to the region's stability and success.
