We're broadcasting the Festival!

We're getting in touch to give you an update.

From Thursday 3rd to Wednesday 9th September we will be offering all Festival-goers a full online experience using the latest technology.

This year the Festival's popular talks, walks,  workshops and concerts will be streamed live to YouTube. All events will appear in the Festival's YouTube channel, please do also subscribe to us. We hope this will make it easy for anyone, anywhere with a broadband connection to watch the events.

We'll even mirror the Festival's lively post-talk question sessions by using YouTube's live chat.  This will open shortly before each talk begins and questions can be entered at any point during the event.

There is one pre-requisite. You will need a Google account to take part in the live chat. This is a requirement of YouTube, not the Festival!

Both are worth creating before the Festival begins and both can be deleted afterwards if desired. It's free, not too complicated and will allow you to fully participate in the events. We'll soon have fuller details on the Festival website.

Our expanded technical team are busy testing our broadcasting procedures and we're grateful for the expertise and time of these talented people.

To ensure our events have a professional shine for viewers, the Kristin Linklater Voice Centre is running a special online course for our event hosts. Kristin Linklater, pictured below right, was world-renowned for her teaching of voice production. Her legacy will be continued by her dedicated voice teachers.
Designated Linklater teacher, Paula Langton, Associate Professor of Voice and Speech at Boston University College of Fine Arts, assisted and co-taught extensively alongside Kristin. She will teach the voice and presentation course with her husband, actor Ken Cheeseman.

The Kristin Linklater Voice Centre opened in 2014 and brought people from all over the world to train Orkney. We hope the Centre will continue to provide these wonderful opportunities.

All the best from the Festival Team
