We hope you had a good one. We have a quick update about Minute/Year, the multi-year sound-layering installation. All info is below.
Spectrograms generated by Minute/Year in the last nine days of 2017 (Dec. 23.–31., 2017)
The 2017 iteration of Minute/Year has just finished – it ran for the final time yesterday, at 20:17, on December 31st, 2017, in Lütticher 5, in Wedding, Berlin.
The 2018 iteration begins today, January 1st 2018, at 20:18.
And, as in the previous years, the change of the year also means a change in location. We’re very happy to have been invited by Ladenkino, in Friedrichshain, to install Minute/Year there for 2018.
Ladenkino (or b-ware! Ladenkino, to call it by its full name) is an independent cinema and bar at the corner of Gärtnerstrasse and Boxhagener Strasse, in Friedrichshain, Berlin, and a fantastic place for Minute/Year to run for the coming year. Minute/Year has been installed in the front foyer and bar area of the Ladenkino, and it will now be recording, re-playing, and layering the sound occurring in this space, every day at 8:18pm, for the whole of this year.
This is the first time that the work has been installed in an open and publicly accessible space, and we’re eager to see what will occur with the work over the coming months. You can follow everything online — and, if you are in Berlin, then of course you can also go and directly see and hear the work yourself, any evening in 2018. The best spot to stand is directly under the mirrorball. 🕺
