CADS Notables for June 2016

Happy (almost) Summer, friends, family, members, non-members, and subscribers of Chicago Art Deco Society!

Let's see what's on the calendar for this week!

Tomorrow, join CADS for an after-work, relaxing Art Deco talk at Roosevelt University!  Richard Guy Wilson, Professor from Commonwealth at Virginia University, who graduated with a PhD from U of Michigan, lives in the modern Los Angeles and was raised in a house built by leading Modernist, Rudolph Schindler. The lecture will be on the 1932 MOMA Exhibition on the International Style as a transforming design style and we're looking forward to an educational and entertaining evening! RSVP Link

And of course, if you are able to join, renew, or donate to CADS, we would be very grateful. Your contributions of any size are invaluable, and they support our endeavor to be the preeminent resource for all things Art Deco in Chicago. This year we will continue to fund our Art Deco survey and subsequent book project. For more info, please visit website. Do you have a comment or event notice for this newsletter? Redeveloped London House
This architectural gem of the London House (formerly London Guarantee Building) had recently completed a major facelift and is now officially open to the public. While the exterior style is identified as Beaux Arts Classical, the interiors still classify as Inter-War, during the Art Deco period. This is a great adventure in grasping a taste of Chicago's history, by partaking in this experience!
Luxury Riverfront Hotel
The London House and its intricately detailed, redeveloped design elements combines a number of different art periods. It is proudly the new addition of the "Big Four" skyscrapers around the famous Michigan Ave bridge!
