Happy Holidays

During this time of celebration and joyfulness, I wanted to say happy holidays to everyone in House District 1.

We have plenty to look forward to in the coming year, including several covid vaccines that will allow us to celebrate holidays as before. We have done so much work to get our infection rates down, and I applaud every Coloradan that has done their part. However, we are not out of the woods yet, and social distancing this holiday is important for keeping our numbers low.

Top 3 things to remember

Only interact in-person with people from your household (defined as those who normally live and sleep under the same roof).
Refrain from traveling. Celebrate virtually with the people who don’t live with you.
Avoid crowded stores. Shop for gifts online and have them delivered or pick them up curbside. Find local Colorado businesses to support via the #ShopLocalColorado campaign. Wear a mask and keep your distance whenever you do leave your home.

In the New Year

The legislative session will begin on January 13th to allow for the swearing-in of newly elected Representatives and Senators. Then we will temporarily recess for a few weeks to allow for the spike in covid cases to subside.

We will return to the Capitol tentatively on February 16 to continue the legislative session. However, if an emergency arises that requires immediate legislative attention, the General Assembly maintains its commitment to responding in whatever format deemed necessary, including temporarily coming back into session to pass urgent legislation.
