House District February 3rd Newsletter

February is already here, and so is my first town hall!
I will be taking part in a mega town hall with Sen. Gonzales, Rep. Alex Valdez, and city council members from the greater Denver area. The town hall will be this Saturday, February 8th, at Valdez Elementary School.  For full details, see the flyer here in English and here in Spanish.

I introduced four bills last month in addition to Chairing the Health and Insurance committee. I am excited to work on legislation that will enhance Coloradans' lives. My bill HB20-1236 Health Care Coverage Easy Enrollment Program, if passed, will allow Coloradans to ask on their state income tax returns for the Colorado health benefit exchange (exchange) to assess whether uninsured household members are potentially eligible for free or subsidized health care coverage.
I also introduced HB20-1123 Grace Period Before Failure To Appear Warrant, which will give Coloradans a three day grace period to reschedule a court date before a warrant is issued. This bill will benefit all Coloradans, especially when life gets in the way.
My bill HB20-1008 Health Care Cost-sharing Consumer Protections, if enacted, makes sure that consumers are buying into health care sharing ministries know what they're buying and what it covers. I am working with all parties on this bill to ensure that it benefits every Coloradan.
My fourth bill HB20-1132 County Reimbursement For Local Elections Supplies, which redefines what election supplies are so that counties can get the funds allocated in HB19-1278 to pay for needed equipment for additional Voting Service Polling Centers as required in last year’s bill. It has passed out of the House and will be introduced in the Senate in the coming weeks.
